Greetings friends. On other occasions I have posted photographs of plants and flowers here, but I always confessed my great ignorance about their names and species. This time it is not so. I set myself the task of learning a little about these wonderful creations of nature, and I confess that I have been surprised when I discovered to be the owner of a hidden treasure in the yard of my house.

I tell you. This plant that I show you, I only knew that it was an orchid; just that. But, motivated by a conversation with a brother of mine, who is an agronomist engineer, I went to the task of finding some bibliographies and I was able to find this one that I share with you "The great book of orchids", by Magali Martija-Ochoa. Thanks to this book I got to know the name of this plant, Cattleya loddigessi, and its discoverer. I also learned about the enormous number of orchid species that exist and how much it was worth in Europe: up to the equivalent of 8,000 euros today!
Well, here I show you details of my Cattleya.

The shapes and colors that these flowers have, are compared with the beauty and sensuality of the feminine...

Conozcan a mi Cattleya.
Saludos amigos. En otras ocasiones he publicado aquí fotografías de plantas y flores, pero siempre confesé mi gran ignorancia sobre los nombres y especies de ellas. En esta ocasión no es así. Me di a la tarea de aprender un poco acerca de estas maravillosas creaciones de la naturaleza, y les confieso que he quedado sorprendido cuando descubrí ser poseedor de un tesoro escondido en el patio de mi casa.

Les cuento. Esta planta que les muestro, solamente sabía de ella que se trataba de una orquídea; sólo eso. Pero, motivado por una conversación sostenida con un hermano mío, que es ingeniero agrónomo, me di a la tarea de encontrar algunas bibliografias y pude hallar esta que comparto con ustedes: "El gran libro de las orquídeas", de Magali Martija-Ochoa. Gracias a este libro es que conocí el nombre de esta planta, Cattleya loddigessi, y a su descubridor. También he conocido de la enorme cantidad de especies de orquídeas existentes y cuánto valor llegó a tener en Europa: ¡hasta el equivalente de 8 mil euros actuales!.
Pues bien, aquí les muestro detalles de mi Cattleya.

Muchísimos insectos se alimentan de sus mieles.

Las formas y colores que poseen estas flores, se comparan con la belleza y sensualidad de lo femenino...
