It is good to wipe the slate clean in family relationships. To understand the parents you have to dig into their past. knowing how they were raised and what their traumas were teaches us to understand their behaviors. At least that was my case so I don't hate my father for how violent he was with us in our childhood.
I can imagine your feelings right now, you won't be haunted by nightmares anymore!😁

I have mended a lot of old relationships by simply accepting that people are the way that they are and all I can do is accept them. Everyone has their conditioning that leads them to behave in their own unique ways. We can't put our own values and ideals on others, it just makes our own lives miserable!
