TBT:: GOING BACK TO FIELD WORK AS AN ENGINEERING STUDENT
It's another Thursday again when we go back in time and check what we have in store which can be pictures or video and we reflect on them as memories bringing old good time again and those i was a bit late with my option to come in because i have not been able to access my gallery and prepare ahead of what i would be posting and this time around i was just getting access to it and i decided to bring it here and save for later in other not to have issue just like i had today in checking for my good time memories, so what am i talking about today or what am i throwing it back to.
I had a thought that i am already a graduate and i remember those things we did then as undergraduate which i believe it is not actually worth it and it should have been better but one cannot know except you have passed those stages so what was it. I graduates as an Agricultural engineering in the university of agriculture but it is a wide range of engineering courses so most of my expectation was that there will be enough of deep practical but not up to the expectation because we literally didn't do much of that but just bombarded with lots of theory.
So my feeling was that in other to make it work there are some program that was set down for us during the holiday of each session before going to the next level and that was when the practical started in full it was a duration of 3 months and each week was for practical. So the picture which was taken was when we started the amendment of the bad road and most of the materials which was needed for the amendment was not provide which now make it low budget project. But the feeling that we never did practical for long made us so anxious to the work which was ment to be done by machines but it was just overlooked.
Then we started with the mixing of cement and gravel instead of using the bitumen for the tiled road and leveler to make it firm and i could say that after using days to the amendment with just normal hand and little involvement of machine the road didn't last for a month before it went back to it's previous shape and making it look like we just wasted our time.
But during those period it was actually fun because we were able to relate with other engineers even though we were not provided with all what we need but that feeling like an engineer was actually there and i actually told my friends to take picture of me doing the job.
As an engineer i feel practical is the best to make one understand the logic of how things work but the feeling and experience was there to gain which can actually be applied at any field which i find myself. Picture is always the best form of memory.

I love the practical part when we are studying, I think it's the best way to connect with our career, beyond taking notes in a classroom, and I see that you had fun despite everything. You look funny in these photos my brother, thank you so much for sharing it and for being part of the #tbt Thursdays, I love this community and I have fun sharing my anecdotes from yesteryear, just like you 🙏
