What Is This? Some Of What The Raining Season Brings To The Agricultural Mindset Farm ๐ฟโ๏ธ๐ฑ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๏ธ๐ ๐ซ || Disadvantages Of Constant Rainfall ๐ง๏ธโ๏ธTo Crop Production.
Hello Hivers ๐๐,
The fact that rain season is good and also the best season here in West Africa Nigeria we also have both the advantage and disadvantages which if you look at it critically you see that has the advantage is numerous the disadvantages is also numerous at the same time. One of the advantage is that the rainy season makes Farm produce to reach it maturity stage earlier or with more and massive production. Also on the other hand is disadvantage is that when you have heavy and constant rainfall it will bring along what is called pest ๐ชณ๐ฆ๐ชฒ๐ชฐ๐ชฑ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐๐ and diseases. In which they were destroy all your farm if you have nonchalant attitude. When you see but you feel like it is a normal and natural thing to occur in your farm.
Some few days ago when I walked around the green vegetable section of the farm I observe this and I also took a lot of pictures to show us that we need to be active as the Farmer that is the top secret. The More the rain drops, the more the best and diseases keep on spreading on your farm. So we need to know this.
* This particular insect is very harmful and very dangerous to crops that has been cultivated either green vegetables species, carrot potato, yam, pepper, tomato and so on.
The damages that this type of insect cause may be unbearable your attitude towards crop production is not valid. This is what I mean whenever you see any traces of this on your cultivated crops then there is a huge problem. I said which problem because I already know how much effort I take sometimes to eradicate them. It cost you more money to fix the farm.
For me it is not very harmful to handle but you must also be careful in handling them at once because you have different types of species of this on different cultivated crops and that is why agriculture is wide in learning.
The way your crop grow also matters. No matter what hybrid of the seed you cultivate that will always be something like this on your farm. So you need to be extremely careful and watch it carefully.
- If you look very closely you see that there are some black spot which are already on the Leaves surface these are the black eggs. That is how the nature brings it never the lady eggs within few days after the eggs will hatch.
When I moved from one vegetable section to another what I also saw was extremely different. The type of larvae that consume the okra specie or okra Farm is somehow different from the ones that consume the spinach vegetable.
This larvae stage is very dangerous because within a twinkle of an eye they feed on hundreds of Green vegetable leaves ๐ฑโ๏ธ๐ฟ.

Here in the Philippines, we also struggle with heavy rains ruining our vegetable crops. I can relate so much when you said the pests just multiply like crazy.
Wow ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฒ. So it is all over. Whenever there is heavy rainfall. There is more farm disaster ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Hi @mattsanthonyit, I'm not a farmer, but I'm currently suffering from a snail infestation that has eaten some of my garden plants. They also proliferate during the rainy season, and I don't know how to control them. For now, I'm using salt and eggshells.
Thanks for the information.
The raining season like I said is a blessing to farmers as well as the other way round. But to assist you on the current situation on your crops. You must make the farm environment not favourable for the snails so that your farm can grow more better. This is what you need to do,you can introduce another type of crops on your farm like the cassava, millet, sugarcane. It will distract them and reduce their population.
Yes, I've noticed that they don't eat or touch some plants.
Thank you so much for your advice.
