Hello Hivers 💕💘,

In agriculture, what other people do may not favor you due to so many things, due to change of weather condition, due to lack of nutrient in the soil, and also change in agricultural Farmland nutrients. when you have changed in the weather condition it may totally affect a lot of decision making in agriculture. But it can also be fixed due to the sense that if you are not privileged to practice agriculture in a particular season you may wait till the next season which may favor the planting of seed you have a mind.

But no matter where you go in Nigeria you will always see that continually exist naturally. When you talk about the Maize, the cassava, the plantain or banana pineapple, cashew, mango, Orange and some other crops. But you may exit so many limit before it stands. So at the long run you do a lot of patching before you can plant any type of crop. But nevertheless it will work. That is why so many people go through a lot before they can actually plant a seed on some agricultural land before it survive. But nearly every corner of the house or any corner of any plot of land is usually used for planting or cultivating crops here in Nigeria. And mainly the reason being that, to actually utilize and to reduce risk of so many predators and harmful animals to get lure into the community.

  • In the picture you can see that it is combination of two types of crops and this is a very common decision making of any type of farmer here in Nigeria. Although what also prompt so many people into this is too ensure that there is food for the family and the community. No scarcity of food whatsoever.

I also encourage people to get started so that there will be so many advanced way to cultivate crops and make it more easier as time goes on. There will be so many open ground for more cultivation of different types of crops. It will also motivate so many people to go into farming.

When you buy a land it is otherwise use as agricultural Farmland because people tends to continually cultivate the land without planting of any crop every 4 months. So you can also think otherwise in the sense that, instead of you too keep clean up the already purchased plot of land alone without planting anything every 5 months, you can decide to improve on the agricultural Farmland or the plot of land. To cultivate either the very usual seen crops like the Maize and cassava. They will equally survive together and grow faster. Instead of just coming up with a clean plot of land every four or five months.

  • It can also be done this way, you can absolutely lease out the plot of land for people who can practice farming on the land instead of keeping it with bushes around. A lot of people also do this here in west African Nigeria. Where the owner of the Land will actually raise it out for a particular set of years for cultivation of crops by other people. In this case it will also make more improvement and more favored environment for people to live.

The type of farming pattern depends on the individual person. And it's also will determine which of the plant to cultivate. I've seen some cases whereby a land was please for farming and its just for 3 years before the contract laps. So as at that time the Farmer is life the 3 years efficiently by cultivating maze cassava and plantain on different sections. So you can conclude that farming is a very good profession but for those that have a very good and positive mindset of providing food , accommodating people, sharing knowledge and information and many more. Many farmers do not open up how things are being done naturally only feel and that is why we always have less people going into agriculture even when you have huge amount of money to make it secure.

Your point about leasing idle plots is smart, it turns bush control into food and keeps the soil working for the next owner. Mixing maize and cassava feels like a risk spreader for both yield and family meals, my calculator would smile at that plan :) With rains shifting, short cycles and shared land use can steady cashflow for small farmers, and and it reduces waste on a plot that would sit empty. Even small steps like this dont need fancy gear, just steady effort and good neighbours in the commmunity.

Yes. It is good to make good use of most land for agriculture before navigating through by building House on it. But sometimes the fear of the unknown is there too...

fear of the unknown is real, but you can chip at it with small steps :) Try using short cycle crops first, keep basic records, then decide if the land should stay in crops or move to building. Leasing a small strip out spreads rsik and keeps some cash coming while the soil still works for you. Intercropping and a bit of mulch help with ra;in swings too, so you’re not stuck if the season turns rough. Sound ok?
