I’ll be taking the author’s words one by one, and starting with the obvious truth social media does affect adolescents. Whether we choose to see it or not, it plays a huge role in shaping how young people think, feel, and act. While some of those effects can be positive, like building creativity or social confidence, we can’t ignore the other side of it.

Social media can also bring pressure, confusion, and false standards. It exposes adolescents to a world that doesn’t always reflect reality, and many young people start to define themselves by what they see online. That’s where things get tricky.

Now, to the second point from the author: Which has the greater influence positive or negative?
For me, I say both. The reason is simple children act on what they see. They pick up trends quickly, whether those trends are inspiring or toxic. A child might learn something positive online and show it in how they help their friends, or they might absorb a bad attitude and reflect that in how they treat their parents or classmates. Social media can influence them to grow, or to go in the wrong direction it depends on what they’re consuming and how aware their environment is.

Finally, speaking about the future of adolescents, I believe we can’t stop change but we can guide it. As I’ve said before, parents play a major role. We’re the first line of direction. When we see a child drifting, it’s our duty to correct them not by force, but with care, teaching, and patience.

Let’s not leave them to figure it all out alone. The internet is powerful, but so is guidance at home.
