Hello Friends.

How are you all?

For some days I've shared my hand-drawn fan-arts of splinterlands and it's also been quite a while since I've shared an illustration artwork of mine. So, I've come back today with an illustration of a splinterlands monster. I'll also be showing you all the steps and processes of how I did the drawing. It'll help you to properly understand what tools I've used and how I created this drawing. So, let's get started:-

I've made this drawing to participate in the weekly art contest arranged by @splinterlands. This is the fan-art drawing of a splinterlands monster named Silvershield Assasin. I'll also be sharing this post on my social media platforms make sure to check it out there too. I'll also include the contest link below at the end of the post so that you can also learn about it if you're interested and this is your first time learning about this contest.

Tools:

The tools are quite simple. You just need a PC or laptop and the adobe illustrator software installed. If you're on a laptop, I'd suggest you buy a mouse. Because using the pen tool with your touchpad is really hard and it's almost impossible for me to draw using my touchpad. So, what you actually need is:

  • 1. PC/Laptop
  • 2. Adobe Illustrator
  • 3. Mouse (if using a laptop)

And you need to have some idea of using the pen tool of the adobe illustrator software. It's not a hard task. You can just watch a 2min youtube tutorial and learn how it works. You can also use a drawing tablet by connecting it with your computer. But, since they are quite expensive, I can't afford one currently. But, I'm planning on buying one once I can gather enough money.

Drawing Steps

First Step:

The first step for every artwork is the structure. The quality of your final result will always depend on how you draw your structure. Otherwise, you'll never get a perfect result. So, First of all, choose the pen tool and draw a basic line for your drawing. It will be your borderline. It's better if you draw them one by one. You can also draw your structure in another way. It's more time-consuming but helps you to do it easily. It's the process of drawing the parts separately on an artboard in Illustrator and then just grouping the layers. You can see that I've drawn it in 3 steps. Head, body, and hands. After drawing it, you can start working on the details.

.
  • Layer management is also an important step while drawing in Illustrator. It not only helps you to work in a disciplined manner but also makes it easier to edit or remove any specific parts of your layers you want. And if you professionally work under any agency they'll ask you to submit the AI file where you worked on. So, it's always best to have this skill.

Step Two:

Now, it's time to decorate the structure that I drew earlier. For this, you can use the brush tool by selecting the right brush mode depending on your drawing. Or you can use the pen tool to make a selection to draw it.

Step Three:

I then designed her dress in parts and then grouped them all together. I also drew her hair and to do that I used the pen tool first then to draw some finishing lines and to look the hair more realistic I used the brush tool too.

Step Four

  • Creating the mask she'll be wearing. It's really simple. Just draw the shape And then choose the color mode from the color adjustment section on the panel that shows on the right side of the screen.

Step Five:

  • Re-touching everything before finalizing the drawing.

My Layers:

Here's actually only half of them😅 (the main layers):

Final Image:

  • In this step I added the background and splinterlands logo. Creating the background and her hand shields is quite similar to the process of the mask. You can create them just by following that step.

Original Image:

  • As you can see that the original image and the one I used in my illustrator isn't the same. Because I liked the fan art of @makenchoo so much that I decided to use that drawing as reference. Here's the link to that post.

I've tried my best to explain my work here. But, it's quite hard to explain them in writing. It'd be way easier if only I could make a timelapse while working. But think I was able to explain the process and if anyone wants to learn the process, they can get at least the basic idea from here. Let's create beautiful things together.

  • Hope you liked my post. And please let me know if you have any suggestions on how I can improve my post's quality. I'll try to learn from them and harness my skills.

Thank You For Your Time.
