The Price Of Pleasure: Should Unhealthy Habit's Be Expensive.

Not until recently did I find out that the price of beer isn't as much as I thought, I was on my way from somewhere and needed to get a bottled water, I branch by an open shop to buy one, they were attending to a man, this man was already drunk and he's still ordering for more bottles to take home. He paid and left, I was left left wondering at how cheap it is to destroy self in this country.

Why will you chose to enjoy and have fun with something that can literally take your life or affect your health. The irony of life is that those things that can affect us and make us closer to death are affordable while the things that can help our lives and make us live longer often come with heavy price tag.

Seeing this topic now, makes me wonder if, just if the beer cost double or triple per one, would be have gotten drunk to the extent of getting extra, won't the price tag have discouraged if from buying more than one if at all he will even buy. Aside that it will add to the governments purse, let's look inwards, such will allow people to think twice, even if they don't stop immediately, when they start feeling the emptiness in their pockets caused by the price of this stuffs they will caution and call themselves back.

By then, they would weigh their option's well and start choosing differently. I believe they will value their life even if its out of financial frustration, cause maybe that's just the push some people actually need.

A distant family of mine once battled with his life some years ago, all through his twenties, he was a heavy smoker, he said it was enjoyment back then not until his life was at stake, the hospital became his second home.

A friend of mine also (a female), this lady can use 5-7 cubes of sugar to drink a a small cup of tea, she said she can't be affected, sugar can't affect her at her age, I was like, at this rate, are you kidding me, but now, she's facing the result, imagine a very young lady already battling with diabetes.

Personally, I believe that will work, something strong enough, a tax, that would make them look and calculate well before taking certain steps, they will always be reminded that their choices comes with a cost and that it would definitely be paid, and if you still chose to go ahead, you are paying twice, you pay the ttax that is suppsed to have stopped/caution you and you will still go ahead to pay for your hospital bill when the result of your choice shows.

Well, some might argue that has adults, they should be free rk choose what they consume, but we all know what freedom without boundaries often leads to....destruction. In a country like ours where the healthcare system is nothing to write home about, you will agree with me that the last thing we need is more people queuing up at the hospital because of things they could have avoided.

What we fail to realize about this things is that, the moment we pay for them, we are also paying with our lives little by little, some at the end of the day often leads to sickness, some die, some leave their family and loved ones in worry, trouble and confusion, some leave young one's behind and all.

As long as this "healthy tax" would make it hard for us to reach those things that are killing us, thwn, I support it. If stuffs like that carry price that would make one stop to think twice, then it's cool. That would help us control and regulate a whole lot of things, health issues will reduce, father's would provide and have more time for the family, mother's/women will reduce their sugar intakes and all. Then, we would start craving for things that will better our life, we wwill start taking more of fruits, water, good foods and all, we will rest well and start taking in our lungs fresh air and not smoked filled ones.

Life is priceless, life is the most expensive gift we all have, and its worth protecting, even if it means us to let go of things that can, or that is threatening it.
