Speaking Life: How Language Shapes Our Reality.

I have come to realize that what you call a thing is what it becomes. So, language is not just how we talk, its how we shape the world around us. I’ve also come to realize that language can not just describe reality, it can change it, and that the word we speak or utter out does carry a lot of weight.

As a Nigerian, we so much in believe that saying positive words means that positivity would find its way to us, so also if we speak negativity, we believe that the word we speak is so powerful, if we work, wake up and all and kept saying... Am just managing, everything is just hard, its not easy and all, those words over time, we discover that they become the words that actually mold and shape us, they are not just normal words, it becomes what shaoe the way people live. If you wake up saying...it is hard" then just expect hardship. I believe that is how language works, it cloud/blur ones view and it can also open ones view.

I remember when I first started calling myself a coach. It felt strange, like I was claiming something I hadn’t fully earned. But each time I said it out loud, something changed in me. I started thinking like a coach, acting like one, listening deeply, and speaking with purpose. Just saying it made me grow into it. That’s how powerful words are—they can plant a new identity in you, and with time, you grow into the person you keep calling yourself.

Also, here in Nigeria, there are lot of languages, and most of them carry very big meanings, but atimes, we use our words carelessly, we insult our kids without thinking, we call each other odd names and use foul languages on one another including kids when we’re angry, not knowing we’re shaping those childrens we use foul words on, and those words often stick.
Some will choose to show you that you are what you actually call them, some will choose to prove you wrong.

Also, even about about our country, the way we talk about it does matter, we keep saying things like..This country no get hope, we are suffering, nothing will change, it won't get better and many more are the words we've spoken over our nation, and of a truth, it hasn't gotten better cause that's what we say, also, the more we say them, the more we accept them as truth. Let's try speaking differently for the next two years and see if things will remain the same. Its not faking words its faith. We should try giving chance to hope and see if a dry land won't produce something good.

If we speak bitter words, bitterness will definitely grow, and if we speak goodness, if we speak life, if we speak positivity even when it does not look , with time, it will begin to shape our reality. People rise to the top because someone somewhere mentioned them, said something good about them and greatness found them, also people shrink because someone somewhere spoke negative about them and they are nowhere near the top, words break it also creates.

Every word has the power to either build or break. It always starts with the word we speak. What we call it is what it will be. Let's call it greatness, let's change our language.
