Rural Posting, Urban Heart.
Well, it is what it is. NYSC made me find myself in this place. But sincerely, if I had the chance to choose where I wanted, it's definitely not going to be this rural place. Rural area is kind of peaceful, the air and smell their is different too. Same goes for there people, different and too local. Imagine being happy and screaming because a corper will be living in your house, it's a norms in the urban area. Here, I've even stopped wearing my khaki because it looks somehow to them, I don't want to be called Corper this and that left and right. And the fact that Nigeria isn't peaceful presently, I stay among those we all considered a threat, and I don't want them to be thinking I'm a soldier or something, so my clothes is always inside that leather of mine.

Now, to say the truth, I ain't the outdoor type, you will hardly see me outside, and when I'm out, I don't want to walk long distances before getting a bike or can to take me wherever I'm going too, I don't want to walk inside bush for long before arriving my destination. And the silence too, I dont like it. All those are things you get to see and encounter in a rural area. Een though I love to be indoors, still I love my environment to feel alive, not noisy, but you know, kind of alive/active. I want to hear the sound of generators, people arguing, blasting music from shops, children rushing to school, people going to work and all of that. Knowing the world around me is alive and moving makes me feel good in a different kind of way. Each time I wake up here, most people would have already gone to their farms. Just wake, cook, bath and go to school to teach.

I know we all are different, but sincerely, it's Urban life that fits my personality. I love to stay in a place where opportunities will surround me. I have planned to use this one year service to learn some tech skill, thinking I would be posted in a town, now, I'm here in this🤦. You know when you live in an Urban area, you will be open to various opportunities, you will be surrounded by people who would inspire you to keep pushing and even you will have something doing no matter what.
Aside that NYSC posted me here, it's something I could still find my way around and be relocated to a different place, but then that will cost money as well. So, I can say that what's stopping me from staying or living in my ideal environment is money. That's the problem of almost every Nigerian—Money. It is true that in the city there are still different people there, some are just merely surviving, some aren't living life as they want. Bills in the city are outrageous, talking of house rent, the various bills, expenses and the stress, not to talk of the chaos and all that could just arise at any time. But then, I will still prefer being in the city/Urban area, it's the best place for me to really feel myself.

I know things will definitely fall into place someday, there will be more income, I will be more stable, and I'll be able to move and start living in a place and an area that really matches my energy. Until then, I won't stop walking towards it.

I remember when my brother served some time ago. The locals wanted to finish him with gifts from their farms because they were so happy to be having all those corpers around. At a point, he had to start sending some things home because he couldn't use them all. I have tasted urban and I have tasted rural, I highly recommend choosing where you feel more peace and comfort. Hehe.
Your brother really enjoyed life there 😁.
It does has it's advantages too though, there are things I've been experiencing here too, good ones I must admit. But then, this place is still kind of limiting me to do certain things.
Thanks a lot for stopping by.
