My Holiday Dream.

I actually did not want to participate in this prompt before, reason being that I am not a fan of taking time out for fun and all, but while reading some write-ups of others, it felt cool, then I made up my mind to do something different, something unlike me.

I'm not the type to get excited about vacations, travel plans, or anything fun, am always in my comfort zone, indoors always, I live cooking and I can do that well and if I fee like taking fresh air, I just walk a little then go back in, if I feel like eating out, I just go buy it out and take it home to eat instead of sitting down to eat and do some sight seeing. I've never visited a beach or a resort of any, my life is not boring, am the funny type, I have very great friends and all, but when it comes to going and fun, am not just the type.

I'm that friend who'd rather stay back, keep the house in order, make sure everyone is okay, and scroll through WhatsApp statuses while others are dancing on beaches, hiking in mountains, or posing beside beach. I enjoy seeing people happy, the way their eyes light up when they return from a trip, telling tales. I’m always genuinely happy for them, but somehow, I’ve convinced myself that those experiences are for people like them. I don't really have the time and aside that, where's the fund for such, I do rather use my money for something else.

But this time, I’m rethinking it, might not be a luxurious one, but something that feels new, I want to plan a quiet holiday, not just fun but also meaningful. I’m thinking of a short trip to somewhere not too far, still within Nigeria. Somewhere with calm waters, good food, fewer crowds, and warm laughter, if possible to plan it with some friends. I really want to experience out too, I want to feel the splash of natural water on my face not the regular tap water, I want to wake up to something different unlike the noise of my alarm and that of my neighbors.

The plan is to spend about three to five days away. A short escape but long enough to breathe differently. I’d love to go with friends and if that won't be possible, then plan it out with family, just me and my siblings. No phones buzzing with work calls, no pressure, just us. Maybe we’d even cook in turns to know who cooks better, and we might eat out and have lots of fun. We would take photos, dance to certain old-school Nigerian music.

I’ve realized that the people who enjoy holidays the most aren’t just lucky, they made time, they chose to step away, not that they don't have stuffs to use the money for also, it wasn't that convenient for them financially aslo, but they did, they spared, and that have fun while also creating great and good memories. I want to do that too, I want new memories, I want to see myself in a different light as well.

I owe myself some peace, some good air, some fun and all, so, I’m going for it, I realized after going through different write-ups that I owe myself a lot, Its time for me to really start living. So next time, when I see others posting, I won’t just smile, I’ll remember I was once there too, I have memories and all too.
