More Than Just Pension.
To be honest, the idea of pension is not something that sit that well with me. Collecting pension and sitting down without doing anything, it's a no no for me. But since the topic is about being on pension. Pension is not something that worthwhile here in Nigeria, so if I were to retire today and placed on pension, believe me I wouldn't be relying only on that pension. Pension payment in Nigeria is small and irregular, my dad is presently a pensioner, so I know what am saying. So, I wouldn't want to live my life/time, a time meant to be a resting and enjoying time for me, I wouldn't want to live it by waiting for a monthly alert that may and may not come in.

Personally, before I retire I would have tried as much as possible to have something going on, like a business running. It might not be something big, and it may be, depending on my capabilities. But it would be something that wouldn't require that I stress myself. I may even employ one or two persons depending on how the business is, while I just sit down to supervise and monitor things. The fact that I've retired means it's time to really rest from all of the hurdles of life, so I won't stress myself, but do my thing quietly and allow my business to grow slowly.
Retirement means the end to trying to meet up with deadlines and all, so with retirement comes an end to waking up at the early hours of the day to start rushing for work. I would just do things at my own pace, I will still go about reading stories, browsing the Internet, make more time for my wife, sip tea, write and continue helping people the little way I can. Also, I will as much pay close attention to my health, it's something I've never taken for granted and at retirement, I would watch it more closely, at that age, the body wouldn't be this strong anymore. So, it's important that I give myself the gentle treatment that I would need, eat healthy, exercise and avoid things that would stress me healthwise.

Meanwhile the business I'm running will keep going too, I will make sure to keep it running an growing and also make sure to not be so hard on my employers or stress/disturb them. I wouldn't even be going there everyday, just once in a while, to check how things are going, what customers are complaining of, or they are responding, what they are buying more, what they wish we could include in our sales and how they themselves are fairing.
I will spend the most part of my time with family and close friends. We will talk, attend functions, do meet ups, gave fun, tell old stories and all. I will as well like to add that retirement doesn't means the end of being useful. Yes, then even if I can't do much, I can still advise, help and share words of wisdom or my experiences to help the younger ones and all.

And like I said earlier, I will never depend just on pension alone. With the little I've experienced and seen, even with my own dad, I can say that pension money is not something one can live on or out ones trust in. It's very important that one has something somewhere that will serve as a source of income, even if it is small.
So, my retirement shouldn't come with the stress and fear of tomorrow, it should come with peace and should be stress-free.

You are absolutely right, the pension system is Nigeria isn't favorable, it's a scam even in private companies, preparing ahead of time for our pension is really necessary.
