Flawed Heroes, Lasting Legacies.

Huhm, this is a very deep and tricky one, well maybe for me sha. But then, I will be sharing my own personal point of view.

We all at humans, and as humans we aren't perfect. Humans are created with flaws, and in the course of our going and coming, in the course of navigating life, we are bond to make mistakes, and some of those mistakes are ones we wish could be erased or undo. Same goes to this people we are talking about, they've done very good and greet things, and that has made it possible for their names to be attached to those things it was attached too, but we can't deny that they as well would have made some terrible mistakes. And that is why I said this topic is a little deep and tricky, in the sense that it takes patience and carefulness to handle such.

I don't really agree that a monument or something of sort should be brought down because the person at a point in his life made some mistakes, as he was not perfect. If we begin to judge every good thing that we see now, and every great person and individual that we see today with things they've done in the past, then almost everybody would be affected, no matter who and what they now represent, either the president, a religious leader and all.

I'm not saying they haven't done something wrong, or it's good. I'm saying that it is good to acknowledge the fact that they've done something wrong and is questionable, but that shouldn't cancel or erase their existence and good contributions that made them worthy of whatever their name was attached too. But then again, I'm thinking if what they did, or what was found about them is something that's so alarming and have caused very deep harm, hurt, and a lasting pain, then keeping them on pedestals will be a little insensitive. In the sense that, it won't sit well with those who were affected. Also, if such a name, monument or statue is one that glorifies cruelty and such, then it's best to remove it.

Now, even if it will be removed, we should still remember that these people are humans, and for them to be considered for such at first, then they must have contributed positively to a very big course, and for that reason as well, it wouldn't feel right to wipe them off totally. Their names and work can still be preserved somehow, maybe by documenting it and all, and they can as well include their achievements and failures. We shouldn't just erase their history off totally, as history is meant to teach and not flatter.

So, we should as well consider the fact that at least their contributions matter to some extent to. We can remove their names from buildings and such, but we shouldn't deny their existence, their contributions and the value they added.

In conclusion, like I've said earlier, we all are humans and no one is perfect, ain't saying that to justify a bad/evil deed done, we should be careful when defending a person, same way we should be careful while judging. But we need to be patient and give room for context and compassion.

We as humans are indeed not perfect, but some examples of the evils that have happened in this world are beyond imperfection; they are pure evil and heartlessness. Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Yeah it really called for carefulness. We can't judge them and we can't erase what they've done in a good way to have deserved such recognition
It's just best that we conclude that we're all humans
