Every Child Should Learn Coding.

There are times I just sit alone wondering how all these gets to work, how do they get to know about it, how is it being powered, how can we just type words on the screen, how does this gaming works and looks so real, how do we get to reach someone so far away...sincerely, this and lots more sre questions that I ask myslef.

I have tried going to computer centres to learn some stuffs, but I find out they ain't so good, they only teach of to surf the internet, type, designs and some other little stuffs, I want to know how this things work, how this applications csme to be and all, I also did a little research here and there, I watched youtube videos on HTML, python and the likes, I attended some paid WhatsApp classes that promises to make us professionals in just 30days, but all just seems like I scratched the surface and nkt the real/deeo thing... I can't boast of knowing anything worthwhile.

I still get lost in all the various things.....the brackets, slashes, numbers, alphabets, words and commands. And it's so obvious that coding and tech are the way, they are the future, not just for the computing people, but for us all...I didn't get to know early, now that I know I wish I knew earlier, even still, I still haven't been able to.

What we were taught is to chase degrees in those fancy, prestigious sounding courses....medicine, law, engineering, accountancy and all, no one ever told me about coding, I never heard it, even during ICT classes in school, it's more of theories.. its always....define a computer, define hardware snd software, label the part of a CPU...and that's just it, we only memorize, write the test/exam and passed, we will be so happy we are doing well in it.

I never failed computer science in school, I loved it, and I thought all that we do then is all about it. Nobody told us there's more, nobody showed/told us that behind every game we play, every app we use, every online platform we admire...there was code, a written code written by people like us.

When I later got to know, I was regretting, I did the best I could those times I wasn't really having anything doing, but maybe I never got someone who knows so well/deep about it, everyone was just teaching us the surface.

What if, just what if I had known about coding earlier, if someone had just introduced it to me when I was still in Primary school, what if it has been a part of the school curriculum just like Maths and English and then we will have Coding and Tech, I aam just thinking what if, wouldn't it has helped us to be someone better, a builder, maybe by now I would have built one or two apps, I would have created a solution to a certain problem in the society/media/online space.

The world today is being shaped by people who understand tech. And we that don't....we are just like spectators in a game we are not playing or spectators in a game that will decide itself, the score, red cards, injuries, goals and all...so also we are spectators in this, as it will eventually decide how we learn, work, connect and more.

I believe coding should be made compulsory for children in school, it is very necessary, even though not every child will become a software developer, but still it is important, not every child who learn maths in school becomes a mathematician, but as they learn more and grow they are able to choose and decide what they want.

Every child should be given the tools to understand the world they live in, at least the basics, how to think logically, how certain things work, how to create and not just consume..... So that as they keep growing they go for what they want and not what is available, at the end, we won't go for same thing, some will choose fashion, music, farming, art and all, but they will still meet it, tech is almost everywhere... Our hospitals, markets, banks, farm and all.

I don't really know of other places, but here in Nigeria, it won't be easy, the educational system is already struggling, most public schools don't even have computers, not to talk of providing internet access. But, if ee are serious and tske it to heart to prepare the next generation well and differently, then nothing will stop us. We don't have to start big.

I still don’t know how to code, but I really want to, I’m so curious about a whole lot of things, my heart is still set to it, and believe you me, I will learn and understand it.

most public schools don't even have computers, not to talk about providing internet access.

This is the same reality in schools in rural areas of Brazil, we are on an equal footing. Unfortunately, some of our children do not know the world as we see it today, they do not know about rockets that return and park at base, they do not know about electric cars...

One day we will grow up

I love the way you concluded, we will definitely grow up, we have a lot if things in this present age that are still unknown and new to many ....regarding this, the government really has a lot of role to play.

Thanks a lot for stopping by.
