Customizing A New Life: My Story.

Huhm, well I happen to learn a skill(tiling)at a time, but not long after life came at me real hard, it was an illness that forced to go in and out of the hospital for years, undergoing various surgical operations. To cut the story short, after I had recovered and all, I couldn't go back to doing what I learnt. I was advised against it, and even I know my body can't do such work anymore.

It wasn't an easy time for me as I felt like a burden to my parent, I was never the type to be sitting home doing nothing, but that illness forced me to be one. When I felt the weight getting too much in my parent and as guy that I am too, I can't keep on depending on them, that was never the type of person I was. That was how I stumbled in graphic customization stuffs. Because I just have to survive and I really need to find a way to do that and support myself.

One of the things that attracted me to what I now do(customizations) was the fact that tonsie extent it's a little related to what I learnt at first(tiling). In tiling you have to measure and cut, same goes to frame making too, when you tile your floors, walls and such it beautifies the home, same goes with having a frame hanged on your wall, or having some customized throw pillows in your sofas.

I happen to meet someone who offered to teach me, and that was how I began. Making name frames, picture frames, magic mugs, throw pillows, and such. I didn't stop at what I was learning from him, I also watched tutorials online, and with time I began to get better at what I do. When I began to make my first sales, it was so little. Infact the first few works I collected were repairs, someone whose frame had broken and wanted to change it, someone who wanted to put another picture in an old frame and the likes. It wasn't easy, and even I laughed at myself. But then, I kept going, and I began turning creativity into income.

And I will be honest with you, there are times I make mistakes, there are times I make what I was not supposed to, there are times I had typographical mistakes in name frames, there are times I don't get the actual designs and all. I remember very well about twice, I had spent hours trying to perfect the work for the customer, but at the end, they asked for a refund. Still, I refuse to be shaken, those experiences all add up together to build me and teach me patience, resilience and the value of persistence.

And that was how I began to earn, I was able to get stuff for myself without bothering my parents, I was able to save and even help my parents out the little way I could. And talking of the biggest change, sincerely it isn't something that loud, the biggest change was the fact that I started believing in myself again, I felt capable and the fact that I wasn't a burden anymore. The fact that I could do things for myself, help out and contribute without putting my health at risk.

I'm still improving, learning and I'm still pushing myself to learn the more, explore new designs and all, because there's no end to leaning and no one is an island of knowledge. Learning a skill is good, it can change you, your income, your mindset and even your future. What I now do didn't just give me a source of income, but it as well gave me hope, purpose and independence.
