Cloning: The Line Between Creation And Manipulation.

Personally, I have always admired science, science has helped with a whole lot, most of the things we enjoy and make use of today are a product if it(science). Ailments are now being detected easily, planting/farming has now become easier, now parents can call or even video call their children living very far away....Growth is definitely obvious, but even with that, fear is around us as well...are we going too far, too high or too fast.

Lets discuss cloning, I think I was still a secondary school student when I first heard about it, it wasn't really explained that much then, it was a biology class and the teacher explained how a sheep can be cloned. She was actually teaching a different thing but had to digress there to buttress a point, when dhe talked about it, we all laughed.. How is that possible, maybe she's been seeing too much of nollywood movies I think.

I got home later that day and asked a brother of mine and he showed me on youtube, it was real, a sheep was actually cloned, it was very well copied. It felt so good to be true, but it was, it happened, it's happening...I was so excited, I didn't even think much about it, or let's say I was less concerned, I was just glad to know something else was possible..

It was years later, that it began to spread, and all this editing or cloning of a thing had become loud that I now begin to reason it, I began to feel uneasy, it was a sheep then, so If a sheep could be copied, what next? A human. I began to picture human replicas born in labs....humans are now being worked on, created/manufactured, it feels wrong to know/hear that human existence is now a project/invention.

I grew up to know and hear that we are made in the image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, but getting to know that we can now be designed and cloned....huhm, we are still here struggling with a whole lot of things, and we will now be also bent on designing/creating humans, which would also mean we will take our time to select and chose the kind of humans that can be cloned/copied...Maybe those with high IQ, maybe those who are rich......and all.

I know and agree it is advancements, and with good intentions, but some advancement are not necessary, they should just be overlooked, even though we can, we shouldn't, if a cloned human were to be, how will he/she be programmed, will it grow from a baby to an adult.. Normally, will it be able to smile, can it feel pain, can they love truly.....

I have lost people that means so much to me, and it would be a very good thing to see them being recreated again, but it will be an heartbreak again as of a truth it wouldn't be them, it would just be a body of them that's all, they have no memory to relate with, and you just hurt yourself the more.

There's mystery in birth and cloning tries to erase/bypass that, daring to play God. Science has helped and done a lot like I said earlier, but this attempt at copying life frightens me, not because science can't, but because it shouldn't because it will be at our loss.
