Poem: Stages of Life

avatar

picture is mine

In the crowded van, in a tiny space
A baby nestled in her mother's embrace,
With a deep gaze, at a world so new,
Innocent and young, a spirit so dew

Behind the glass, I see her face,
Reflecting the life of an old race.
With the scars and wisdom her eyes have seen,
Trials, joys, pains and all in-betweens.

In the backseat of a van, in a single gaze.
A baby's stare and a woman's glance
Young and old in my camera's flash
Two stages of life in one tiny space.
