Dies Lunae, or What delicious empanadas, haha || #TCSP 129

Hey, coffe lovers!

Hope you're having a nice weekend ☕️ Glad to join you for #tcsp 129.

It was my birthday recently, and my sister wanted to take me out for breakfast at a place that is very special to us, but also very expensive. I made her change her mind. Instead of going there, I suggested we go to a modest café in the area (in Lecheria, Venezuela), where we have always felt at ease... with soft music, excellent service, and, among other delicious things, really good empanadas: Mocca, Coffee-Bistro... AND it was the right decision; see the balloons? 😄👇

We had a lovely breakfast time at this little café.

It was Monday, the day of the moon, i.e. dies lunae.

...And empanadas seemed the right way to go, since one should try to get off to a good start to the week, right? Good breakfast and coffee is what I needed.

We had two cappuccinos while we waited for our empanadas. Below you can see the coffee and breakfast menu.

What would you like to order?

Then, unlike my sister, I had papaya juice instead of more coffee.

I forgot to tell them not to put any sugar in my juice. Here, there are still places where they don't ask you, but you, the customer, have to be specific when ordering (your juice). So it was quite sweet for my taste, but this wasn't an unpleasant experience at all. It turns out that on your 46th birthday, it's not bad at all to have the breakfast you used to have when you were 6, haha.

My empanada had a delicious shredded chicken stuffing: I could feel the sofrito was fresh; white onion, sweet chili peppers, ground cumin, and garlic. Oh, and a hint of annatto oil. Important! More than you think if you are in the east of Venezuela. Not to forget. Typical empanadas here are deep fried; they must be eaten hot, straight from the hot frying pans of hell heaven, while they're still super crispy. They served our empanadas with wasakaka (the light green sauce on the right), which is customary around here; I could feel white vinegar, parsley, cilantro, and the unhealthy kind of mayonnaise. Good, good to remember the old days, when edible and yum-yum was edible and yum-yum. Simple days.

This place has a special vibe that makes you relax as soon as you walk in. Here, time slows down. People move gently. Cell phones go quiet.

From inside, in this pleasant shade, you can watch the sunny street, the cars, the people, everything through the window, as if you had pressed mute on the remote control. I love that about this place. Shall I recommend this place to my friends? Sure!

It was a late morning Moon-Day, with very tasty empanadas, juice with too much childhood sweet. And coffee.
