I think you'll get me to collect sailing ships too :)
Great coin, still represents the Hanseatic League
I like the cog ship,
Just the thought of what it was like to be on that ship,
I think it laid the foundation for modern maritime trade
Of course, the English and Dutch took over the main role later
And of course many things changed
And I think there was a lot of politics in its destruction
At that time, who needed an independent trade union
And that's another piece of information that we in Europe united can achieve a lot but ...

I worked in the local Salmon fishing industry over several summers and enjoyed being on a variety of boats; gill netter, trawler, packer, etc. There used to be an annual Sea Festival in Vancouver my father took me to. A big sailing ship or two would come at that time and offer tours during the festival. The festival ends with lots of fireworks.

Amazing that a Medieval culture could develop a remarkably decentralized, democratic and free enterprising Trade model that thrived outside any authority for such a long time was no doubt perceived a threat by the kingdoms around them. The world may be so much different if they were left free to expand across the oceans.
