Detective work or a waste of time
(Edited)
I received a coin as a gift from a friend
He knows that I collect old silver coins
I didn't want to offend him and refuse and say that I don't collect Turkish akçe.

Why don't I collect:
A Turkish silver coin, minted from the time of Sultan Orhan (1326-1359) until the end of the 17th century.
At first it weighed 1.07 grams, later its weight dropped to 0.13 grams. It was minted in many mints of the Turkish Empire.
Over three centuries this small coin was minted in many different variants.
And the main reason is that Arabic is used on most coins.
I am not a connoisseur of Arabic, except for numbers and I don't know anything.
I also took it to an acquaintance, a professional numismatist, at least that's what he presents himself as :)
He told me what I also know, that it's a Turkish akçe.
The coin is a little worn, so maybe he didn't want to waste time.

But I wanted to know which Turkish ruler it belonged to, so I took up detective work.
I don't know Arabic so I had to do visual identification.
I also tried with apps but when it came out I had an American cent and not a Turkish akc.
I knew that apps didn't help much either.
But I managed to find which Turkish ruler the money belonged to and on the Numista.
I managed to compare the front page

Issuer: Ottoman Empire
Sultan: Selim I (1512-1520)
Type: Standard circulation coins
Year: 918 (1513)
Calendar: Islamic (Hijri)
Value: 1 Akce
Currency: Akçe (1327-1687)

I hope I identified the coin correctly.
Or was I wasting my time:)

I am not familiar with the language but thanks for sharing this coin that had travel a long ways since the Ottoman Empire. History in your hand.
!LUV
Thank you. That's what drew me to collecting coins as a child
That the coin was as old as possible from the era of the knights, Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire
Then I didn't look at whether it was silver or not, although I don't look at it now either
But Old silver coins are a double profit
Creating historically accurate findings is never a waste of time. The more accurately we identify our history, the more wisdom can be gained from reflecting on it.
Thank you for your support. It gives me the motivation to continue ,,fighting windmills,,.
