Un esmalte endurecedor / A hardening enamel

La imagen que nos presenta el amigo @lanzjoseg dos esmalte tradicional endurecedor de la marca Valmy, dureza de un diamante así son etiquetados en el mercado para la venta, de hecho son muy buenos y tienen gran variedad de colores.
Ver esa imagen me llevó a mis años de adolescente diecisiete años junto a mi amiga Yasmin dieciséis años, andábamos haciendo maromas para hacer crecer y endurecer nuestras uñas, nos recomendaron preparar un brillo o esmalte traslúcido con ajo y romero, lo hicimos, esas uñas seguían iguales de débiles y sin crecer, claro nosotras queríamos que crecieran de inmediato.

The image our friend @lanzjoseg presents shows us two traditional hardener nail polishes from the Valmy brand, diamond-hard, as they are labeled for sale on the market. In fact, they are very good and come in a wide variety of colors. Seeing that image took me back to my teenage years, seventeen years old, with my friend Yasmin, sixteen years old. We were doing tricks to make our nails grow and harden. We were recommended to prepare a translucent shine or polish with garlic and rosemary. We did it. Those nails were still just as weak and hadn't grown, of course, we wanted them to grow immediately.

Una tarde en mi casa Yazmin me comentó que le habían contado que lo que endurecida las uñas de inmediato era el formol y que podíamos comprar unas gotas en la farmacia.
Teníamos un conocido en la Botica San Juan de mi Pueblo natal Aragua de Barcelona, le digimos que necesitabamos formol para un experimento de química que si nos podía vender un poquito, llevamos frasco, después de argumentar la necesidad del formol, el muchacho accedió y nos regalo un poquito, algo mínimo, nos advirtió el peligro al usarlo.
Ya en casa en mi cuarto preparamos los dos brillos o esmaltes endurecedores, nos echamos inmediatamente en las uñas, Yasmin se tenía que ir y yo la acompañe a la puerta, iba yo con una sensación extraña, hormigueo y dolor leve en las uñas, sentía como que me apretaba o quemaba, también lagrimeo en los ojos pero no comente nada.

One afternoon at my house, Yazmin told me she'd been told that formaldehyde hardens nails immediately, and that we could buy a few drops at the pharmacy. We had an acquaintance at the San Juan Pharmacy in my hometown of Aragua, Barcelona. We told him we needed formaldehyde for a chemistry experiment and he asked if he could sell us a little. We brought a bottle. After arguing about the need for formaldehyde, the guy agreed and gave us a tiny bit, just a tiny bit. He warned us of the dangers of using it. Back at home, in my room, we prepared the two hardening polishes and immediately poured them on our nails. Yasmin had to go, so I walked her to the door. I felt a strange sensation: tingling and mild pain in my nails. I felt like they were squeezing or burning. My eyes were also watering, but I didn't say anything.

Cuando volví a la habitación me quité eso enseguida, todo estaba normal y poco a poco se me quitó el malestar, la mañana siguiente cual seria mi sorpresa al ver la mayoría de mis uñas quebradas, rajadas como si lo hubiera hecho con una hojilla, asustada las pinté para que nadie en la casa lo notara.
Yazmin vino a casa en la tarde, no tuve como avisarle lo sucedido, antes no había tanta comunicación solo teléfono CANTV y en su casa no había, cuando le conté lo que me había sucedido con mis uñas ella estaba sorprendida sus uñas estaban normales solo a mi me había hecho daño, lo cierto es que desde ese día nunca más preparé esmalte, solo uso los que compro en farmatodo o farmadon como esos de la imagen Valmy, con nueva presentación vegana, colores en tendencia y con la dureza de un diamante.

When I got back to the room, I took it off right away. Everything was back to normal, and little by little, the discomfort went away. The next morning, I was surprised to see most of my nails broken, split as if I had done it with a razor blade. Frightened, I painted them so no one in the house would notice. Yazmin came home in the afternoon. I had no way of telling her what had happened. Before, there wasn't much communication, only the CANTV phone, and at home, there wasn't one. When I told her what had happened to my nails, she was shocked. Her nails were normal. Only mine had been hurt. The truth is that since that day, I never wore nail polish again. I only used the ones I buy at Farmatodo or Farmadon, like those in the Valmy image, with their new vegan presentation, trendy colors, and as hard as a diamond.
