Hola a todos, les saludo con respeto y cariño desde Venezuela. El martes 28, mi prima Rita Gallegos me envió varias fotografías que resaltaban la belleza natural y artística de algunos lugares emblemáticos de Europa. Una de las que más me gustó fue la que aparece en esta publicación: Farolas del Paseo de la Concha en San Sebastián, España.

      Las farolas me gustaron por su simbolismo histórico, por su estilizado y bien logrado trabajo artístico y por su luz, sinónimo de sabiduría e inspiración poética para propios y extraños; por esa razón, decidí investigar su origen.

      Leyendo sobre ello, descubrí que las farolas se han convertido en un símbolo de la ciudad y que fueron diseñadas en 1909 por el arquitecto Juan Rafael Alday:

Juan Rafael Alday Lasarte (San Sebastián 1879 - 1955) fue un arquitecto modernista español que desde su puesto de arquitecto municipal de San Sebastián impulsó diversos edificios emblemáticos en la ciudad. Diseñador y creador de la barandilla de la Concha de San Sebastián. (IA)

      En la interesante lectura me enteré que las farolas están hechas de hierro fundido con una peana de mármol gris y una base decorada con cuatro gárgolas; además, cada farola tiene un mástil que se ramifica en cuatro brazos, cada uno con dos puntos de luz. El dato curioso es que desde 1986, una miniatura de estas farolas es la imagen del Premio Donostia del Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián.

      Debo confesar que me encantó el arte que se ve y la paz que inspira ese espacio, espero algún día conocerlo y admirar de cerca tan extraordinaria obra de la arquitectura moderna. Con todo respeto dejo mi opinión: El Paseo de La Concha en San Sebastián, España, es un lugar maravilloso y digno de visitar.

Hello everyone, I greet you with respect and affection from Venezuela. Last Tuesday the 28th, my cousin, Rita Gallegos, sent me several photographs highlighting the natural and artistic beauty of some iconic places in Europe. One of those photographs that I liked was the one featured in this post: Streetlights along the Paseo de La Concha in San Sebastián, Spain.

      I liked the lampposts for their historical symbolism, their stylized and well-executed artistic work, and their light, synonymous with wisdom and poetic inspiration for locals and foreigners alike; for that reason, I decided to investigate their origin.

      Reading about it, I learned that the lampposts have become a symbol of the city, and that they were designed in 1909 by the architect Juan Rafael Alday:

Juan Rafael Alday Lasarte (San Sebastián 1879 - 1955) was a Spanish modernist architect who, from his position as municipal architect of San Sebastián, promoted several emblematic buildings in the city. Designer and creator of the railing of La Concha beach in San Sebastián. (IA)

      In my interesting reading, I learned that the lampposts are made of cast iron with a gray marble base and a decoration featuring four gargoyles. Each lamppost also has a mast that branches into four arms, each with two lights. Interestingly, since 1986, a miniature version of these lampposts has been the image of the Donostia Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

      I must confess that I loved the art and the peace that this space inspires. I hope to visit it someday and admire such an extraordinary work of modern architecture up close. With all due respect, I offer my opinion: La Concha Promenade in San Sebastián, Spain, is a wonderful place and well worth a visit.
