Daydreaming is a state of consciousness in which a person, while still awake, experiences a brief detachment from the environment, during which contact with reality is distorted and partially replaced by a visual fantasy, particularly one filled with pleasant thoughts, hopes or ambitions.

Contrary to what might be believed, it is an extremely common experience, and although we have been taught since childhood that daydreaming can be a waste of time, it actually turns out to be a source of creative inspiration. The idea seems intuitive, and research among professional creatives has found that good ideas often come from dreams.

This pair of images from my personal archive were captured in a sunflower field located on the outskirts of the city of Araure in the western Venezuelan plains, during a brief Sunday drive I took a few years ago.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

La ensoñación o el soñar despierto es un estado de conciencia en el que una persona, aún estando despierta, experimenta un breve desprendimiento del entorno, durante el cual, el contacto con la realidad se distorsiona y se substituye parcialmente por una fantasía visual, particularmente llena de pensamientos placenteros, esperanzas o ambiciones.

Al contrario de lo que podría creerse, es una experiencia extremadamente común, y aunque desde niños se nos enseña que soñar despiertos puede ser una pérdida de tiempo, realmente resulta ser una fuente de inspiración creativa. La idea parece intuitiva, y la investigación entre los creativos profesionales ha encontrado que las buenas ideas en muchas ocasiones surgen de los sueños.

Este par de imágenes pertenecientes a mi archivo personal, fueron capturadas en un sembradío de girasoles ubicado en las afueras de la ciudad de Araure en los llanos occidentales venezolanos, durante un breve paseo dominical en carro que realizara unos años atrás.

Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
