Last Thursday, I was walking through part of the city center, taking advantage of the celebration of Holy Thursday according to the Catholic calendar and much of Christianity in general.

In Spain, as well as in some other European and Latin American countries, large processions and massive acts of faith are held on that day to commemorate the last hours of Jesus' earthly life, which usually take place in the afternoon or evening, so during the early hours of the day are not usually very active.

However, although the city looked quite clear, with little vehicular traffic and low volume of people; I was surprised that many commercial establishments of various kinds were open and working normally, when some years ago, commercial activity during the days of Holy Week was minimal or practically nil, but obviously times have changed, regardless of beliefs or traditions.

Finally, I must clarify that the temples were completely closed and guarded by police officers, waiting for the arrival of the parishioners in the afternoon to comply with the various scheduled activities.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

El pasado jueves, estuve recorriendo a pié parte del centro de la ciudad, aprovechando que se celebraba el Jueves Santo de acuerdo al calendario católico y gran parte del cristianismo en general.

En España, además de algunos otros países europeos y latinoamericanos, ese día se realizan grandes procesiones y actos masivos de fe para conmemorar las últimas horas de la vida terrenal de Jesús, los cuales suelen efectuarse en horas de la tarde o de la noche, por lo que durante las primeras horas del día no suelen ser muy activas.

Sin embargo, aunque la ciudad lucía bastante despejada, con poco tráfico vehicular y escaso volúmen de personas; me sorprendió que muchos locales comerciales de diversa índole estuviesen abiertos laborando normalmente, cuando algunos años atrás, la actividad comercial durante los días de Semana Santa era mínima o prácticamente nula, pero evidentemente los tiempos han cambiado, independientemente de las creencias o tradiciones.

Por último, debo aclarar que los templos se encontraban completamente cerrados y resguardados por funcionarios policiales, esperando la llegada de los feligreses en la tarde para cumplir con las diversas actividades programadas.
