The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral, more commonly known as Metropolitan Cathedral of Barquisimeto, or simply Cathedral of Barquisimeto, is a building with a modernist architectural style that resembles, from the heights, an inverted flower with four petals.

Built between the 50's and 60's, this catholic temple, the main one in the city, has the shape of a hyperbolic paraboloid, and its roof is formed by transparent acrylic panels supported by a network of concrete ribs reinforced with steel cables, which allows it to have natural light inside during the day.

I don't visit it often because of its remoteness from my home, however, every time I go I take a lot of pictures, both of its interior and its surroundings; and over time, the cathedral has become an architectural landmark and a tourist attraction of the city because of its curious shape.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

La Catedral Nuestra Señora del Carmen, más comúnmente conocida como Catedral Metropolitana de Barquisimeto, o sencillamente, Catedral de Barquisimeto, es una edificación que posee un estilo arquitectónico modernista que se asemeja, desde las alturas, a una flor invertida de cuatro pétalos.

Construída entre las décadas de los años 50 y 60, este templo católico, el principal de la ciudad, tiene forma de paraboloide hiperbólico, y su techo está formado por paneles transparentes de acrílico soportados por una red de nervios de concreto reforzados con cables de acero, lo que le permite contar con luz natural en su interior durante el día.

No suelo visitarla con frecuencia por su lejanía desde mi casa, sin embargo, cada vez que voy acostumbro a tomar un buena cantidad de fotos, tanto de su interior como de sus alrededores; y con el transcurso del tiempo, la catedral se ha convertido en un hito arquitectónico y un atractivo turístico de la ciudad por su forma tan curiosa.

Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
