Devotion

On Tuesday, January 14, the traditional and centuries-old procession of the Divina Pastora took place in the streets and avenues of Barquisimeto.

With a massive turnout of millions of devout parishioners, this image, made of polychrome wood and representing the Virgin Mary as a shepherdess caring for her flock of sheep, left its sanctuary in the town of Santa Rosa to travel the 7.5 km that separate it from the Metropolitan Cathedral, on its 168th visit to the city.

As is customary, along with the faithful, street vendors selling food, drinks, and religious souvenirs also participate, seeking to generate income to support their families.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

El pasado martes 14 de Enero, se realizó la tradicional y centenaria procesión de la Divina Pastora en las calles y avenidas de Barquisimeto.

Con una multitudinaria asistencia de millones de devotos feligreses, esta imagen elaborada en madera policromada y que representa a la Virgen María en la advocación de una pastora que cuida de su rebaño de ovejas, salió de su santuario en la población de Santa Rosa para recorrer los 7,5 kms. que la separan de la Catedral Metropolitana, en su visita 168 a la ciudad.

Como es costumbre, junto a los fieles, también los vendedores ambulantes, tanto de comidas , bebidas o souvenirs religiosos participan, buscando generar los ingresos que les permita llevar el sustento a sus hogares.

Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
