The ninth month of the year, September, has come to an end, and we only have a little less than 90 days left to finish this year 2024 and welcome 2025, with all the emotions and feelings that this means.

Personally, September is the month in which long ago I came into the world, 60 years to be exact, which is a figure that although in other times was considerable and worthy of respect, today is just another milestone in the course of life of a human being, even more so when nowadays life expectancy is higher than in the past, and most importantly, with a better quality of life than before, besides, you never get old while there are goals and projects to be completed.

On the other hand, this month meant a new anniversary for Barquisimeto, the city where I was born and where I still live, which on the 14th celebrated its 472nd anniversary, from the moment when a handful of Spanish soldiers and explorers, having departed in early 1552 from the neighboring town of El Tocuyo, and under the command of Juan de Villegas, then governor of the Province of Venezuela, settled on the banks of a river, in what would be the initial location of the city, before being moved to where it is currently located.

As I walked around the city and went about my daily activities, I had the opportunity to capture some colorful images, from the fruits and vegetables displayed in the modern supermarkets, to the colorful flowers in the small artisan shops located in the streets and avenues, who in full view of passersby make their floral arrangements to sell them later.

It was probably not my most prolific month in terms of photographic content, however, even so, I can consider that the balance was ultimately favorable.

Hey! You're the first one to add the Ask a photographer (#AAP) tag!

I like your colorful series. Although I like the photo of the bottles and the fruit and they do match the subject, I do think they somehow don't fit in that well with all the flower photos.

It's nice that you've also included the ladies from the flower stand in your shots.
I like the shot with the red roses and the small white withered rose in the middle.

I think I would have cropped the photo with the flowers in the blue vase a bit differently. The vase isn't that interesting and the flowers are against the top of your photo.
Some more space around them might have been better or a tight crop like you did with the roses.

Wow!!! That means I am a pioneer in the use of the AAP tag. 😃

I was hesitant to include the photo of the bottles in the post because I felt it didn't fit with the rest of the content, but in the end I decided to do it because I was somehow looking to highlight the order and its colors.

I appreciate you taking the time to write your impressions and suggestions.

Best regards!

Love the vibrant colors in the photos

The AAP tag brought me here and my thoughts are similar to @freindlymoose’s so I won’t say the same again

Feliz belated cumpleaños, @manuelgil64! (sorry, I don't know the word for belated in Spanish)
Beautiful photos.

(Edited)

In Spanish belated is translated as tardío, con retraso or retrasado.

We also have a saying that goes, "nunca es tarde cuando la dicha es buena" (it's never late when happiness is good)

Thanks a lot! 😃

Hi, if you allow me I will leave my suggestion.

Technically the photos are excellent (color, contrast, light, WB).👌

I only reinforce the repair of the cut already recorded by @friendlymoose in the photographs of the flowers.

Sometimes less is more. This publication had more strength and impact just with the first 4 photographs. (Including the third photo of the violet flowers because it fits very well with the previous photo of the colorful mural).

I made the rest of the flowers in another new publication. Genre Part 2 only with flower shops.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to talk about photography.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

I think this discussion that @friendlymoose started is an extraordinary opportunity for everyone to talk, and learn, about photography.
