Splinterlands | Introducing Midnight Potions and Land-Based Crafting

(Edited)

Hello Readers,

The Splinterlands is about to step into an entirely new era of player-driven strategy with the launch of Midnight Potions, a powerful new in-game item that you can only craft through your land holdings. Gladly, just now when I am writing this post, Splinterlands has officially announced the successful update in Lands to support Aura. This new resource that can now be produced in Lands can be used to craft Midnight Potion. Now, if you are interested in Lands and ever wanted to produce something more that will actually be usable in the main game, then my friend, your dream has become a reality now! Unlike the Alchemy or Legendary potions, which come directly from the Splinterlands, this new Midnight potion can only be crafted by land owners and not to mention, they can either use this potion to open Conclave Arcana packs or sell in the non-card market. This is a silent revolution, I would say, through which players and investors now have one more way to make money directly by crafting and selling midnight potions and in this post, I will talk in detail about the potion, its usability and why this potion will become very important from now on. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.

What Are Midnight Potions?

Midnight Potions are the newest addition to the potion group and this potion doubles your chance of pulling Black Foil cards from Conclave Arcana Standard, Alchemy and Legendary booster packs. The generation of this new potion will be land-based and it will work in the same way as Alchemy Potions or Legendary Potions that boost chances of pulling Gold Foil or Legendary cards from booster packs. However, unlike Alchemy or Legendary Potions, Midnight Potions cannot be bought directly from the Splinterlands shop. You will need to either craft them yourself using Land or buy them from other players on the Non-Card Market.

Building the Crafting Cycle

Crafting this newly launched Midnight Potion is not a 1-click job, as it introduces a fully land-centered production cycle. Let me show how each step works below:

Generate Research

Start by producing Research on your land. This resource will allow you to create Aura Lab Permits.

Acquire an Aura Lab Permit

On the Artisan Quarter screen, you need to spend 10,000 dollars on current research to get a soulbound Permit. This permit does not cost you prestige, your lifetime total Research will continue to count toward your Land title and Secret of Praetoria progress.

Construct an Aura Lab

Next, use your Permit to build an Aura Lab on any Land plot (except Keep and Castle). This new worksite will work in the same way and requires the same amount of resources as Research Hut or Shard Mines. Aura Lab will take in these land resources like wood, stone, iron and grain to produce Aura in return.

Harvest Aura

The Aura Lab generates aura at a steady rate of 0.0005 units per hour, which is the same production speed as iron. However, on Magical or Occupied plots, you will enjoy a 100 percent bonus to the base rate.

Craft Midnight Potions

Now, after you produce enough Aura, come back to the Artisan Quarter screen, where you can now convert 40 Aura into a single Midnight Potion. Your newly crafted potions will appear immediately in your Item Inventory in the game.

Use or Trade

You can choose to use these Midnight Potions when opening your Conclave Arcana packs for a doubled Black Foil chance, or you can also list them on the Non-Card Market, where they are now fully tradable for DEC or Credits.

Important Mechanics

Soulbound Aura - Just like the soul-bound reward cards, the Aura cannot be transferred or sold directly. It stays bound to the plot that produced it. Also, the Aura does not have any LP like we see for other Land resources.

Reusable Permits - When you deconstruct an Aura Lab, the used Permit comes back to your account, ready for a new construction.

Land Plot Restrictions - Any plot with an Aura Lab becomes non-transferable while the Aura Lab is active on it. So you have to either change or remove the worksite to make your land tradable again.

Artisan Quarter Screen - This single in-game interface will now handle both Permit acquisition and Potion crafting. You can access it from your Production Overview, Item Inventory or by simply clicking your Aura total on the regional map.

Resource Costs - Aura Labs will require the same amount of other land resources as required by Research Huts and Shard Mines.

Why Midnight Potions Matter

This newly developed crafting system is more than just a way to make potions; it’s actually the start of a revolution if you ask me. Because it is the first fully player-driven production loop powered by Land. Here is why I think it will change the game from here on:

True Player Agency - As a player and Land owner, now you will decide and control how much Research to convert while progressing for for Land title or Secrets of Pretoria.

Strategic Depth - You can choose which plots to dedicate to Aura Labs versus other buildings, and create a customised strategy accordingly for a long-term planning exercise.

Economic Opportunity - With Midnight Potions now tradable on the Non-Card Market, skilled landowners can develop a crafting business, while card collectors and battle goers now have a new item to pursue to pull more black foil cards.

The Midnight Potion crafting system is now live on April 29th and from today onward, you can craft these badass potions and either use them while opening Conclave Arcana packs or generate an earning source by selling them on the non-card market. So get ready and first, check your land’s existing buildings and resources. Then, plan to produce at least 10,000 current Research for your first Aura Lab Permit if you do not have enough research points. Also, focus on your plots and decide which plots will maximise your aura bonus, while focusing on Magical or Occupied plots for double production.

Last but not least, as the Midnight Potion crafting is now live, just head straight to the Artisan Quarter screen, set up your first Aura Lab and begin your journey and start harvesting aura. However, I have already invested most of my liquid funds in buying Alchemy packs, so I am thinking of buying these Midnight potions directly from the market. Let’s see how much they start selling for and if they are actually in my reach or go to the moon!

I hope you enjoyed reading my post about the introduction of Midnight Potions and Land-Based Crafting. Please let me know your thoughts about this new item in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
