Moonkarts | Season 24 Begins and my Colony Rewards from Previous Season
Hello Moonkarters!
Apart from being a Blogging and social platform, Hive is also well known for its popular games and other dApps on chain and one such Gaming project that is recently gaining some popularity is Moonkarts. Though I have joined Moonkarts much later than when it was released last year, it has already booked a permanent place in my daily routine, as I am now used to playing this game on a daily basis. Nowadays my day starts with the roar of my Kart engine, because the excitement of drifting my Kart around tight corners, and the unmatched thrill of watching my leaderboard position climb or fall with every race, I think I am getting addicted slowly with this game and the credit goes to the amazing gameplay experience, well crafted tokenomics and the competitive nature of this game. Anyway, time passes by faster in the universe of Moonkarts and though it feels like I have just started playing for a new season, but actually that season has already ended and we have already stepped into Moonkarts Season 24. But, before I paint you a picture of how Season 23 went for me, let me first talk about my racing setup to my Colony token stake and how you can learn and start your own journey. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.
My overall progress in Moonkarts
No doubt that with its revolutionary gameplay design while leveraging blockchain technology to run the project, Moonkarts is breaking the old and boring image of blockchain games, where we get bored with strategy-based 2D card games with no actual fun or thrill. Instead, it drops you into a fully three-dimensional, arcade-style kart racing game with the real thrill, like you are playing a top-notch web2 game. It's still hard to believe that Moonkarts is a web3 game running on a blockchain when you start gripping your steering wheel while your eyes are fixed on neon-lit tracks and engine revving in your ears. The fun gets boosted even more when securing top places in a competitive race earns you Colony tokens, which can be staked to increase your earnings further or be traded on the Hive blockchain. The game is inspired by old arcade-style games, so you can recall the golden era of console racers, but it is coupled with modern, secure and transparent play-to-earn mechanics. So, it's the best of both worlds, enjoy pure racing adrenaline while earning with your skills and collection.
My experience playing Moonkarts
I started playing Moonkarts not long ago and when Season 18 kicked off, I was brand new to ranked multiplayer. Back then, I just had a decent knowledge and after practicing in single player mode for around a week, I started cautiously playing in the multiplayer mode, playing just a couple of races each day. But by Season 20, I started feeling confident enough to upgrade my gear and race more competitively. From Season 21 to 23, Moonkarts saw me spending even more time on the tracks and hanging out in the Moonkarts Discord while meeting, gossiping and swapping tips with other racers. Over the last three months and six back-to-back multiplayer seasons, here is how my habits evolved.
From Season 18 to 20 was my first phase in multiplayer mode in Moonkarts, I started learning the 3 different tracks, experimenting with cards and breaking into the lower tiers of the ranked leaderboard.
From Season 21 to 23, after I gained the basic knowledge and practiced to drive well on tracks, I invested in faster karts and stronger gears while testing new racing setups and locking in more daily races.
By the end of Season 23, I started pushing myself further, and I was even playing 20 or more races every day, thus pushing my Ranking Points higher and unlocking better rewards.
My racing setup
As I could not buy a flashy collection of high-fuel cards, I started working with cheaper cards and built a decent racing setup that balanced cost and speed. All the different part slots on my racing kart, including engine, driver, tires and accessories, are filled with 1 BCX cards, but still it gives a really good performance on these tracks. Here are my current Racing setup cards as shared below:
- Kart - The legendary Arachno Eclipse level 1 (1 BCX) card.
- Driver - The Rare Aurora level 1 (1 BCX).
- Engine - An Epic Refinement unit level 1 (1 BCX).
- Tires - Corner Demon common card level 1 (1 BCX).
- Antenna & Exhaust - Simple, cheap yet effective card for these 2 slots. First, the Corner Demon, a common level 1 (1 BCX) and a Lite Burn exhaust, a level 1 (1 BCX) gold-foil card that maximises airflow.
- Accessory - Lite Glide, a rare add-on that fine-tunes handling in tight spots.
Together, this racing rig gives me a Health rating of 86 out of 250, a Speed of 233 out of 330, Handling of 100 out of 250 and Acceleration of 104 out of 250. Best of all, it only consumes 78.25 Fuel per race, more efficient than many Level 2 Epic racing kart setups.
Staking for Fuel Income
In Moonkarts, all my top karts are being staked whenever I am not racing on the track, my Auto Vault quietly produces Fuel. I have staked 14 Script tokens right now and for every 2 Script we can stake 1 card, so a total of 7 cards in staked. Now, producing Fuel is very important in Moonkarts because without it, you can not earn in Moonkarts. Anyways, it gives me roughly 382 Fuel per day, which is enough Fuel for 5 matches.
Racing to Rank 5 in Season 23
Moonkarts splits the competition into two leaderboards
Ranked Leaderboard, which ranks you purely on performance and lap times.
Orbital Leaderboard, which examines your total “orbitals” collected, you can earn Orbital by simply grabbing at least three orbitals in each race to count for orbital points.
In Season 23, my consistency landed me 5th place on both the leaderboards.
- Orbital Reward - 3,252 Colony tokens for finishing fifth.
- Ranked Reward - 10,404 Colony tokens for finishing fifth.
On top of that, with almost 450,000 Colony tokens already staked in my account after I claimed and restaked all my season colony rewards back into the wallet.
What to Aim for in Season 24
With Season 24 now live, which will go for another ten days, you have got a fresh new chance ahead. Keep these strategies in mind in case you are playing already or about to jump into Moonkarts.
- Race Regularly - Even fifteen races a day can earn you an awesome place among the top ranks, based on your skills and setup.
- Watch Your Fuel - Try to lean towards racing setups under 50 to 80 Fuel per race, so you can maintain a good balance.
- Collect Orbitals - Always aim and collect at least three orbitals per race to climb that secondary leaderboard.
- Lean on Your Community - In case you are just starting, try engaging in Moonkarts Discord server, which is full of setup tips, track insights, and racing tactics.
