MOONKARTS | I Secured 5th Rank in Moonkarts Ranked LB
Hello Racers,
What does it take to win a Race? A Racing car, an Experienced Driver and a lot of Will Power - well, that’s the minimum requirement to play the Moonkarts Racing game. If you have been reading my previous posts, you know that I am slowly getting addicted to this game and today, something has happened that has sparked this addiction even more for me. Since its launch, Moonkarts has been gaining popularity as a unique play2earn gaming project and spreading wings beyond Hive, as we speak. If you haven't heard about Moonkarts, this is a pure arcade-style kart racing game with all the crypto play2earn features like - asset ownership, earning crypto for playing, transparency and blockchain security etc and on top of that, this game is built by the Arcade Colony platform and owned by Splinterlands, which was a big plus for me to enter this game. I have been casually playing this game for last 2 months and yes, as you have already read the Title, today I have reached the 5th position in leaderboard for this ongoing ranked season in Multiplayer mode of Moonkarts, not to mention that I am really excited with my performance in this game and started believing that I can competitively play this game. So in this post, I am going to talk about my performance and thoughts and my future plan with this game as well. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.
Moonkarts right now is in its early stage and still a web-browser based racing game, but looking at its unique gameplay mechanism and tokenomics, I think this game has a bright future and a pretty good potential to become one of the top games in the entire web3 space. While most of the other games struggle to retain their audience with their dull gameplay, Moonkarts has literally nailed it when it comes to gameplay experience. While most of the other games only rely on 2D games, basically card-based strategy games or rather a website trying to sell a DeFi project as a game, Moonkarts hit you differently when you play it for the first time. It is a complete 3D racing game with 3D maps and racing tracks, different types of cars, car parts and accessories, drivers and power-up cards where players enjoy a web2 level racing game against other real players while enjoying all the benefits of a play2earn gaming project. Here, players can earn Colony based in their performance, which is the in-game reward token for Moonkarts. This Colony token holds monetary value and can be bought, sold, or traded in hive-engine, the exchange to trade Hive chain’s all layer 2 tokens and assets.
I have been playing this game for around 2 months now, but I admit, till now I was playing this game on casual mode. Because first of all, I was learning all the basics and gameplays of this game. Secondly, I did not have a competitive racing setup to participate in multiplayer mode and race against other pro players. But, as I have now learned all the basics of the game and also been slowly buying cards to upgrade my overall racing setup, I got some motivation to push my performance toward and start playing the multiplayer mode seriously.
My Racing Setup
I have shared my current racing setup in the screenshot above and as you can see, I am currently using an Epic Quasar Sport Kart with an Epic Engine Enhancement, a Rare Aurora Driver, a Gold Foil common Lite Burn Exhaust, the Moonfire Missile power-up card and some other rare and common cards in my racing setup. The best 2 cards in my Racing setup would be the Epic Quasar Sport kart and the Epic Engine Refinement, both of which increase the overall stats of my Racing setup by a lot. Currently, I am focusing on upgrading my Kart level to 2, which requires a total of 10 BCXs of cards, among which I have only managed to get 5. Anyway, the current racing setup costs me 140+ Fuel for each match, considering I am using a power-up card, which is helpful in races but eats up a lot of fuel. My Quasar Sport Kart, being a 5 BCX cards now also sucking more fuel but until I upgrade it to level 2 by merging 5 more cards in it, it will be acting as a level 1 card. But the one card that is really making a difference currently, as I have started testing it out, is the Moonfire Missile card, which I use to stun opponent karts for a little time and cause them to leave their earned Orbital and Colony tokens on the track.
Secured 5th Rank in Ranked
Anyway, for a while I was not actively playing Moonkarts and instead, I decided to stake my most valuable cards with Script tokens in the Auto Vault section, so that I can earn and save a lot of Fuels for future use. But yesterday, I thought to spend some time in Moonkarts and focus on playing the game competitively before the season ends to see if I can earn some Colony tokens. So, I began my racing session and started playing the game dedicatedly. To my surprise, when I finally decided to stop today after playing extensively in these last 2 days and smoking up almost all my Fuel, the result didn't annoy me at all, cause I have secured the 5th place in the Ranked leaderboard and also got the 8th place in the Orbital leaderboard. I couldn’t believe it at first, but realised after pinching myself a couple of times that I have indeed secured a seat in the top 5!
RANKED LEADERBOARD
Now, as you can see from the screenshot above showing the current Ranked leaderboard for season 21, I have claimed up to number 5 and my estimated Colony token reward is 10404, with a Ranking point of 1565 and a staking factor of 11.3. Now, though the numbers of the top 3 position holders are shockingly high, probably because they dedicatedly play since the start of every season, it took me only 2 playing sessions and a decent racing setup to reach the 5th position. So, I think I can do better if I focus more on this game, upgrade my cards and practice this game and spend some more time.
ORBITAL LEADERBOARD
Now, looking to the Orbitals leaderboard, here also I managed to pull my name up to the 8th position and the estimated colony token rewards that I would get for reaching here is 150, which can be considered as a bonus on top of my ranked leaderboard earning, considering I protect both my positions until season end, which will happen after approx. 2 days. With the Orbitals leaderboard, till now I have earned a total of 43890 points. However, while racing, I have rarely focused on collecting orbitals on track to boost my ranking and only stayed focused on winning the races. But anyway, realising that the orbital reward pool distributes the most amount of Colony tokens per season, it's time to shift my focus towards Orbitals more now and increase my colony token earnings. Let me know if I am thinking right!
