This is my post for #freewriters my own prompt "things on my life"

Life and its quirks. A new chapter of the mishaps that happen to me.

A few days ago, I was at the utility sink where I fill the buckets of water for bathing and washing the dishes. Next to it, I have the washing machine that's been broken for years (although it may seem incredible to you, I haven't been able to save up the money to get it fixed; I wash my clothes by hand). For the last 5 or 6 days, while filling the buckets, I heard a noise like a crinkling plastic bag, but I would look for where it was coming from and it was from the washing machine, yet there was nothing there to justify that sound... that's how it went for several days, a strange thing...

Until yesterday afternoon, I heard a noise like a water tap running, as if I had left the utility sink faucet on. I was working on my PC, and I immediately headed to the kitchen. The first thing I saw was the entire floor completely covered in water; my kitchen was flooded! All my alarms went off, because the toilets above are also clogged and the water couldn't flow; it was just pooling! It turns out the water heater had a hole because over the years it had rusted, and the water started seeping through there, until it reached a point where it started gushing out, flooding my kitchen... total chaos, I had to clean it all up.

I called a neighbor from the condo board... the father of the girl I had the fight with because they were making noise playing soccer in their apartment at 11 PM (yes, although it may seem incredible, they did, but that's a story for another time). Anyway, this gentleman, who is Colombian, came down right away to see the problem I had. It turns out there is a shut-off valve to cut the water, but it's in a room on each floor of the building, and that room is locked. And guess what? I don't have a key. I've been asking for one for a long time and they haven't given it to me, and now this emergency happened and I needed it to shut off the water while I fixed this problem...

So, the gentleman came up with an idea. He took a formica door from my kitchen that I wasn't using anymore and placed it at an angle over the utility sink so that the water would run off into the sink and not onto the floor. This would solve everything until I could get the key to the little room... the neighbor in charge of the room, as usually happens, wasn't home. She's never there when you need her... and she never wanted to give me the key to make a copy... they're honestly shitty people.

Anyway, he eventually got the key, we shut off the water, and today the gentleman is going to do me the favor of removing the damaged heater and putting a tap on the pipes to solve the problem. I haven't used a water heater for years; I'm used to showering with cold water, so that doesn't affect me.

So this Monday, I'm waiting for this gentleman to come with the tap this afternoon (I don't know how much it's going to cost me, I hope it's not too much) to take down the heater and install it. He's also going to make me a copy of the key, and thus everything will be solved.

I'm exhausted because, with my limited mobility condition and my enormous weight, I had to squeegee all the water last night; my bones hurt... but these are things that happen in life... I don't want any more tests, or at least if they are going to send me tests, I wish I'd get help from someone who lends a hand, someone who would have helped me squeegee all the water so I wouldn't end up with pains like I have now.

Furthermore, it's been about 9 days since I've slept well because of an annoying cough I have, and I don't know what it's from. I haven't been a smoker for many years. And I have a cough that's like when you have phlegm but it doesn't quite come out, and I cough over and over but nothing comes out.

Anyway, I wanted to share this episode so it remains in the record of the adventures of my bizarre and curious life.
Over and out.

Cambio y fuera.

Hello @manclar, well, things have happened to you. I'm glad that the Colombian man could help you and I don't know what else to tell you. I hope that at least now you are resting.

A very strong hug.
