7 Things Nobody Will Tell You as a Beginner Drummer
At first you will probably think you can become a good drummer in 3 month but that's the biggest lie you will ever tell yourself. Skills take time to build, it becomes perfect overtime when you keep working on it.
You've certainly heard that when you practice frequently you will improve but that's not totally true, you can be practicing and not still improve. Where most beginners get it wrong is that, "they mistake movement with progress".
For the fact that you're practicing doesn't mean you are progressing. When you practice the wrong stuff frequently you are only making movement and not progress but when you practice the right things frequently you are not just making movement you're also making progress. So it's important you get access to the right information before practicing.
Everybody you will come across during your begginers stage that doesn't give you accolades instead they mock you are God's sent. You might hate them but they are only an instrument to facilitate you to work more on yourself. Stay very far from people who will only give you accolades and not tell you the blunt truth about your playing.
People will not like you to play for them but don't panic, all these will stop as time goes on.
Your family might not support you doing music, you just have to figure out a way to do music.
You will always want to play to impress ladies in the Church, 😎 It is normal, we've been there.
They'll tell you that when you know the 40 rudiment you will become a good drummer. I wish you good luck if you're on a quest to do that. Just a piece of advice, there's more to drumming after 40 rudiment 😂

One thing am scared of us learning something the wrong way because it will cost you more to learn it the right way. You'll have to unlearn before relearning the right thing.
Yeah!
Unlearning to relearn can be a very hectic task self.

Some solid points you gave here. People often think effort is progress but we need to always be checkmating ourselves if we are in the right and if we should keep moving or do something different.
