En el mundo de la farándula, lo que se conoce de los artistas son sus éxitos o sus escándalos personales, pero muy pocos se detienen a ver que ellos también son seres humanos cuyas historias tienen más aristas de las que los fanáticos logran ver desde sus butacas o las pantallas.

Cuando encontré esta serie, en las ofertas de Netflix realmente le daba poca importancia, pues tiene 91 episodios y a mi me gusta consumir productos con pocos capítulos para no sentir la ansiedad de no poderlo terminar en un par de días. Atrás quedaron las esperas a las que nos sometían las televisoras cuando la continuación del capítulo sería al día siguiente.

Sin embargo pudo más la curiosidad por conocer sobre "La Diva de la Banda", de quien solo supe cuando sus días terminaron en un trágico accidente. El saber su historia fue aleccionador desde todo punto de vista, inclusive en los créditos, cuando descubrí que uno de mis primeros jefes, en mis tiempos de trabajo en televisión fue el productor ejecutivo, quien para entonces se comportó muy mal conmigo, así que ver ese nombre nuevamente sin sentir rencor, ya fue una gran ganancia para mi.

En Mariposa de Barrio vemos la historia de Dolores Janney Rivera, quien fuera conocida en vida como Jenny Rivera, una cantante de música norteña mexicana, a quien su padre Pedro Rivera impulsó desde muy joven para que se dedicara a la música, aunque para ella no fue sino hasta luego de los 30 años una opción laboral.

Conocer los detalles de su vida fue bastante triste, pues tuvo muchos altibajos, más bajos realmente, y sin embargo de cada caída se reponía para hacerse más fuerte, aunque el apoyo familiar tuvo también un peso enorme en todo el proceso, demostrando que funcionaban como un grupo, sobre todo con la protección de sus hermanos que siempre estaban ahí para hacerla salir adelante.

Es una historia aleccionadora, que demuestra que para triunfar hay que tener una meta y dar todo para llegar a ella, por más escollos que se presenten en el camino, y vaya que a ella le sucedieron los peores: intento de suicidio, violaciones, violencia doméstica, contactos con el narcotráfico, intentos de secuestro... Muchas cosas con las cuales lidiar sin terminar en loco.

Terminé de ver la serie sabiendo el final, pero igual me resultó interesante ver como a pesar de su historial familiar, su carácter explosivo y todas las vicisitudes que tuvo que atravesar, logró cumplir un sueño truncado de su niñez, además de tener esos picos de felicidad que dan los hijos y esa red de apoyo tan importante que tuvo en su familia.

Una serie para ver más allá de los hechos que plantea, pues al ser biográfica, puede que muchos se identifiquen con algunas de las situaciones, y con ello tomar las fuerzas necesarias para convertirse también en sus propias mariposas saliendo del capullo.

When I found this series on Netflix, I didn't really pay much attention to it, as it has 91 episodes and I like to consume products with few episodes so I don't feel anxious about not being able to finish it in a couple of days. Gone are the days of waiting for the next episode to air the following day, as we were subjected to by television stations.

However, my curiosity about “La Diva de la Banda” won out, whom I only learned about when her life ended in a tragic accident. Learning her story was instructive from every point of view, including in the credits, when I discovered that one of my first bosses, during my time working in television, was the executive producer, who at the time behaved very badly towards me, so seeing that name again without feeling resentment was already a great gain for me.

In Mariposa de Barrio, we see the story of Dolores Janney Rivera, who was known in life as Jenny Rivera, a Mexican norteño music singer, whom her father Pedro Rivera encouraged from a very young age to pursue music, although for her it was not a career option until she was over 30.

Learning about the details of her life was quite sad, as she had many ups and downs, mostly downs, and yet she recovered from each fall to become stronger, although family support also played a huge role in the whole process, showing that they functioned as a group, especially with the protection of her brothers, who were always there to help her move forward.

It is a cautionary tale, showing that to succeed you have to have a goal and give everything to achieve it, no matter how many obstacles stand in your way, and she certainly faced the worst: attempted suicide, rape, domestic violence, contact with drug traffickers, kidnapping attempts... Many things to deal with without going crazy.

I finished watching the series knowing the ending, but I still found it interesting to see how, despite her family history, her explosive character, and all the vicissitudes she had to go through, she managed to fulfill a childhood dream that had been cut short, in addition to having those peaks of happiness that children bring and that important support network she had in her family.

This is a series to watch beyond the events it presents, because, being biographical, many may identify with some of the situations and thereby find the strength to become their own butterflies emerging from their cocoons.
