Empresas Polar Sports Development Center

Greetings dear friends of this community, I am immensely happy to be back sharing those jewels that I am discovering in my city and in other corners of the country. Today I want to take you with me through my words and photographs to know a space that, from my point of view, represents a true model of planning, design and functionality: the Sports Development Center of Empresas Polar, located in the municipality of San Joaquin in the state of Carabobo.

For some time now, I have maintained that architectural works, more than mere buildings, end up defining the character of a city. When these spaces are also dedicated to the training of athletes, the promotion of talent and the fulfillment of dreams, they acquire an even deeper value. This sports complex is not only a regional, but also a national reference, since many athletes have lived here, and many others have passed through its facilities in search of improvement.
The Center was inaugurated in 2009 and since then has marked a before and after in terms of how an integral sports space should be conceived. Comprising 22 hectares, it offers carefully designed spaces for the practice of baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and many other disciplines. But what really stands out is how this complex integrates sports with the natural environment, art and functionality. For some time now I have maintained that architectural works, more than simple buildings, end up defining the character of a city. When these spaces are also dedicated to the training of athletes, the promotion of talent and the fulfillment of dreams, they acquire an even deeper value. This sports complex is not only a regional, but also a national reference, since many athletes have lived here, and many others have passed through its facilities in search of improvement.

Personally, the baseball area was the one that impressed me the most, and perhaps it had to be, considering that this sport is a true national passion. This section of the complex has four baseball fields with official measurements, equipped with artificial turf endorsed by the Major Leagues and technical sand surfaces. The most outstanding feature is the strategic arrangement of these fields around a central building, the “Baseball Building”, from which there is a 360-degree view that allows the simultaneous following of all the games. The bleachers, with seating for more than 400 spectators, complete a scene that exudes professionalism and a vocation for high performance.

The soccer area is also very well organized. It has a main field with regulatory measures and artificial turf approved by FIFA, in addition to two auxiliary fields designed for technical training, small-space work or games for younger categories. On one side, there is a natural grass surface with two goals, ideal for free play or informal training. This combination of regulatory and flexible features speaks of a functional design, adapted to the real needs of the users.

One of the things I enjoyed the most was to walk through its green areas. The landscaping is sensitively achieved: accessible walkways for people with disabilities, landscaped spaces maintained through a system of stake nurseries, and a clear intention to invite the user to stay and inhabit the place. Here, the architecture does not impose; rather, it accompanies and blends in with the surroundings.

There are also multi-purpose indoor courts that allow the practice of disciplines such as indoor soccer, volleyball and basketball, safeguarding physical activity even on rainy days. Everything is designed for continuity, versatility and inclusion.

Another aspect that pleasantly caught my attention was the integration of art in the complex. Works by Valencian artist Pablo Villamediana such as “Gol Tinto” in the soccer area and “La Búsqueda” in the baseball area not only adorn, but also become an active part of the space, dialoguing with the sporting purpose of the place. In addition, a corner has been set aside for the spiritual with an image of the Virgin Mary Help of Christians, which adds a symbolic and emotional component to the tour.

With the dynamics of daily traffic in mind, the complex also has a system of roadways and parking lots for private vehicles and buses, which guarantees a fluid and orderly operation. These types of details, often overlooked, are fundamental for an architectural project to function integrally.

For me, this place is impressive in every way. Not only from an architectural point of view, but also from a human point of view. I feel that a structure like this has the capacity to transform lives, to inspire and provide opportunities to thousands of children, young people and adults who see in sports a way to develop, project themselves and earn a decent living. In a country where good examples of public infrastructure are often scarce, this sports center reminds us that it is possible to build decent, functional and deeply humane spaces.

Excellent, Maite! I visited this company's facilities when I was a child, like most kids, but I only remember the machinery. These sports facilities are new to me and they're great. You can tell that everything was done with a lot of heart and with the long term in mind. This post is very interesting, a place that perhaps not everyone gets to see, so thank you for sharing it. It's also very well done, with great photos and description. Congratulations!...

Greetings, dear friend!
Well, these facilities have nothing to do with the company where everything is manufactured polar companies, this is a purely sports complex, in fact they are located in different places. This Polar center is designed for the development and sports projection of athletes at national level. I loved it, especially how it blends with the environment and makes you want to stay there.
There are companies, such as the Polar companies, that take the recreation of their human resources very seriously and offer workers these beautiful spaces for the practice of sports.
This is not really intended for the recreation of their workers, although I don't doubt that at some point they may go and spend some time there.
This is a sports complex for high performance athletes, with projections for the major leagues, such as baseball, or for example the home of several professional soccer teams. I really like that they think about the development of our athletes and have created a structure like this.
Grande y hermoso ese campo deportivo de empresas Polar, la grama artificial se ve muy natural y los jardines están bien cuidados. Así si provoca ver los juegos en todas sus disciplinas. Saludos.
Wow! what a beautiful structure, the beibol field looks spectacular and has the machines for the athletes to train comfortably.
Greetings!
