I'm joining this initiative for the first time to tell you about my favorite hobbies 😃, there aren't many but they are very impactful and one has a lot to do with the other, plus they have helped me mature, grow and enrich my vocabulary, since every day we learn something new in this life.
Me uno por primera vez a esta iniciativa para hablarles de mis pasatiempos favoritos 😃, realmente no son muchos pero sí muy contundentes y uno tiene mucho que ver con el otro, además me han ayudado a madurar, crecer y enriquecer mi vocabulario, ya que cada día aprendemos algo nuevo en esta vida.
First of all, I really, really love to read, especially narrative fiction (short stories and novels). I feel that each author reflects a lot of themselves and their own experiences in each story, leaving us with valuable lessons and advice for life, while also entertaining us with fantastic tales. I've read everything: detective novels, reflective novels, historical fiction, classics, and fantasy. My favorite authors are Gabriel García Márquez, who taught me about magical realism through his works, and C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling, who showed me that fantasy is closely linked to reality. In this way, the worlds of Narnia and Harry Potter have become my constant companions for many years.
En primer lugar me gusta mucho pero mucho leer, en especial el género narrativa (cuentos y novelas) siento que cada autor refleja mucho de sí mismo y sus propias vivencias en cada historia, nos dejan un buen aprendizaje y consejos para la vida, al tiempo que nos divertimos con historias grandiosas. He leído de todo: novelas policiacas, reflexivas, históricas, clásicos y fantasía. Mis autores favoritos son Gabriel García Márquez, quien me enseñó a través de sus obras lo que es el realismo mágico, y C.S. Lewis además de J.K Rowling, quienes me enseñaron que la fantasía está muy ligada a la realidad. De esta manera los universos de Narnia y Harry Potter se han convertido en mis compañeros recurrentes a lo largo de varios años.
But reading so much left me with a need to express myself in some way, so I turned to what I considered a writing exercise. I don't know if you know this, but there are online platforms for amateur writers like Wattpad (among others) where I started writing fanfiction (this is a kind of literary exercise in which authors create and develop stories based on existing characters and universes, like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Narnia, etc., obviously without any profit motive). Over the course of a few years, I wrote about 12 novels, and receiving feedback from readers was very rewarding. It helped me, in a way, to test whether or not I had a talent for this, whether my plots were engaging or not. But it also helped me to self-evaluate a lot, and I'm very hard on myself because of my biggest flaw: perfectionism. So, time and time again, I've reread and corrected my own stories.
Pero precisamente leer tanto me fue dejando con la necesidad de expresarme yo también de alguna manera, por lo tanto recurrí a lo que tomé como un ejercicio de escritura. No sé si ustedes sepan esto pero existen en líneas plataformas para escritores amateurs como Wattpad (entre otras) en la cuál empecé a escribir fanfics o fanfiction (esta es una especie de ejercicio literario en la cuál los autores crean y desarrollan historias a partir de personajes y universos que ya existen, como Star Wars, Harry Potter, Narnia etc, obviamente sin fines de lucro) a lo largo de algunos años escribí más o menos unas 12 novelas, y recibir los comentarios de los lectores era muy gratificante, me servía de cierta forma para probar si yo tenía o no talento para esto, si mis tramas eran atractivas o no, pero también me sirvió para autoevaluarme mucho, y vaya que soy muy dura conmigo misma a causa de mi mayor defecto, el perfeccionismo, así que una y otra vez he releído y corregido mis propias historias..
Hasta que llegó el momento de escribir mis historias originales (mi propio universo, mis propios personajes) y fue así como escribí tres libros, el primero fue Detrás del Telón el cuál narra la historia de una chica que intenta desarrollar su talento como artista de circo mientras su padre adoptivo la maltrata e intenta hacer que desista, pero hay un gran y escabroso misterio detrás de todo esto. Está historia se desarrolla en Francia durante una época de cambios conocida como la Belle Epoque.
Later, I wrote *The Cursed Clock of Güigüe*, which is about a Swiss watchmaker who travels from his country to Venezuela, specifically to the town of Güigüe, to investigate a mystery surrounding a clock supposedly cursed by General Juan Vicente Gómez. The clock simply refuses to work, and over the years, four watchmakers have died after repairing it. Crónidas wants to know if there is a scientific explanation for the deaths or if, on the contrary, it truly has something to do with the supernatural.
Después escribí El Reloj Maldito de Güigüe que trata sobre un relojero Suizo que viaja desde su país hasta Venezuela, específicamente a la población de Güigüe para investigar un misterio que rodea a un reloj que supuestamente fue maldito por el General Juan Vicente Gómez. El reloj simplemente se niega a funcionar y a lo largo de los años cuatro relojeros murieron luego de repararlo. Crónidas desea saber si hay alguna explicación científica que explique las muertes o si por el contrario realmente tiene algo que ver con lo sobrenatural.
This was the only one of the three books that has received "more attention" so to speak, since it caught the attention of a publishing house in my country called El Perro y la Rana and they promised me that they would release it at least in digital format, I even did my presentation of the book in March of this year, but to date they have not published it.
Este fue el único libro de los tres que ha recibido "más atención" por así decirlo, ya que llamó la atención de una editorial de mi país llamada El Perro y la Rana y me prometieron que lo lanzarían al menos en formato digital, incluso hice mi presentación del libro en marzo de este año, pero hasta la fecha no la han publicado.
Finally, I wrote The Rose of Auschwitz, which tells the story of Hanna Müller and Benjamin Eisenberg, a couple who have just become engaged in the midst of a great and historic conflict (World War II). Kristallnacht left the Eisenberg family (who were Jewish) without a home and their beloved flower shop. Therefore, the Müllers kindly decide to take them in and keep them hidden for several years in the basement of their house. But everything becomes complicated when Schnaider, an SS officer, becomes obsessed with Hanna and visits the house with increasing frequency. If the Müllers are discovered, they could be accused of treason, while the Eisenbergs, being Jewish, could face an even worse fate.
Por último escribí La Rosa de Auschwitz, que nos cuenta la historia de Hanna Müller y Benjamin Eisenberg, una pareja que acaba de comprometerse en medio de un gran conflicto bélico e histórico (la segunda guerra mundial) La Noche de los Cristales rotos dejó a la famila Eisenberg (judíos) sin casa y su amada floristería, por lo tanto los Müller amablemente deciden alojarlos y mantenerlos escondidos durante algunos años en el sótano de su casa, pero todo se complica cuando Schnaider, un oficial de las SS se obsesiona con Hanna y cada vez visita con más frecuencia el hogar. Si descubren a los Müller podrían ser acusados de traidores, mientras que a los Eisenberg, por ser judíos podría aguardarles un destino peor.
I wrote this novel in the middle of the pandemic, after officially losing my job, with no hope of finding a new one, during the forced confinement, with a lot of uncertainty and after having a good marathon of books, movies and documentaries about that hard and terrible time that was the second world war.
Esta novela la escribí en plena pandemia, luego de quedarme oficialmente sin empleo, sin esperanzas de conseguir uno nuevo, durante el confinamiento forzado, con mucha incertidumbre y luego de darme una buena maratón de libros, películas y documentales sobre esa época tan dura y terrible como lo fue la segunda guerra mundial.
And well, finally, the hobby I've been neglecting lately, since I don't think I'm that good at it, is playing guitar. It's something I really enjoy, but aside from not having much time to practice, sometimes I feel like I struggle to learn the chords, and I only dare to play from tablature, which I find easier. However, I would love to learn much more and be able to play some of my favorite songs (most of them 90s alternative rock 😄).
Y bueno, finalmente, el pasatiempo que he tenido muy descuidado últimamente, ya que creo que no soy tan buena para esto, es tocar la guitarra, es algo que me gusta mucho, pero aparte de que no me queda mucho tiempo para practicar, a veces siento que me cuesta mucho aprender los acordes, y solo me atrevo a tocar por tablaturas, que me resulta más sencillo. Sin embargo me encantaría aprender mucho más y a poder tocar algunas de mis canciones favoritas (la mayoría de ellas de rock alternativo de los 90 😄)
Those are all my hobbies, although I also like to sing in the shower from time to time 😄. I also used to sing for Hive events like the Hive Open Mic and Vibes Music Competition, but I haven't done it in a long time because my phone broke and I can't record videos anymore. Thank you so much for creating this activity; it's been enriching for me to be able to talk to you about my hobbies. They've helped me understand that despite the disappointments I've experienced, I've had dreams and I've put a lot of effort into what I do. I've poured my heart and soul into every project, with dedication, perseverance, and discipline. Thank you also for reading. I'm sending you a big hug full of good vibes 😊.
Esos son todos los pasatiempos que tengo, aunque de vez en cuando también me gusta cantar en la ducha 😄 pero también lo hice durante un tiempo en actividades para Hive como el Hive Open Mic o Vibes Music Competition, pero hace mucho tiempo que no lo hago debido a que mi telefono se averió y ya no puedo grabar videos. Muchas gracias por haber creado esta actividad, para mí ha sido enrriquecedor poder hablarles de mis pasatiempos, me han ayudado a entender que a pesar de las decepciones vividas he tenido sueños y le he puesto mucho empeño a lo que hago, por mi parte he puesto mi alma en cada trabajo, empeño, constancia y disciplina.
