Synonyms and Antonyms A very useful writing tool (ESP/ENG)

Today I would like to share with you a tool that has been really useful for me not only when writing my posts in Hive, but also when writing my novels and stories. It is a dictionary of synonyms and antonyms that my mother gave me some time ago. I love it because when I am writing this tool gives me the immediate possibility to choose from a universe of words with identical meanings without having to always use the same word, which certainly helps to avoid the text becoming tedious.

Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una herramienta que para mi ha sido verdaderamente útil no solo a la hora de redactar mis post en Hive, sino para escribir mis novelas y relatos. Se trata de un diccionario de sinónimos y antónimos que me obsequió mi madre hace algún tiempo. Me encanta porque cuando estoy escribiendo esta herramienta me ofrece la posibilidad inmediata de elegir entre un universo de palabras con significados idénticos sin tener que usar siempre la misma palabra, lo cuál desde luego ayuda a evitar que el texto se vuelva tedioso.

But you know what? This book has not only helped me to get out of trouble when writing articles or my novels and stories, but I have found that it has helped me to expand my vocabulary, sometimes I read it for that purpose, to be able to acquire the ability to substitute words for others more appropriate for a given occasion.

¿Pero saben una cosa? este libro no solo me ha ayudado a salir de apuros a la hora de redactar artículos o mis novelas y relatos, sino que me he dado cuenta que me ha ayudado a extender mi vocabulario, a veces lo leo con ese fin, de poder adquirir la habilidad de sustituir palabras por otras más adecuadas para determinada ocasión.

I will tell you a couple of anecdotes, the first one is that on one occasion, my next door neighbor asked me to write for her the speech she had to give for her graduation. As I began to draft I started in a fluent and very comfortable way, but there came a moment when I got stuck because of a single word, the one I had in mind was a word that didn't sound formal enough to be used in an event like that, so I turned to this book and wow! without a doubt it made the difference 😃. And the second time it helped me a lot with a speech was when I gave mine during the presentation of my book "El Reloj Maldito de Güigüe" Being honest with you for the day of the event I didn't have or wanted to have a written speech, I wanted to be as organic as possible, but reading this thesaurus helped me to have the ability and skill needed to speak that day, and fortunately everything went well that day.

A propósito de esto les contaré un par de anécdotas, la primera es que en una ocasión, la mi vecina de al lado me pidió el favor de redactar para ella el discurso que debía dar para su graduación. Al empezar a redactar empecé de manera fluida y muy cómoda, pero llegó un momento en el que me trabé por causa de una sola palabra, la que yo tenía en mente era una palabra que no sonaba lo suficientemente formal para ser usada en un evento como ese, así que recurrí a este libro y ¡Wow! sin dudas hizo la diferencia 😃. Y la segunda vez que me ayudó bastante con un discurso fue cuando di el mío durante la presentación de mi libro "El Reloj Maldito de Güigüe" Siendo honesta con ustedes para el día del evento yo no tenía ni quería tener un discurso escrito, quería ser lo más orgánica posible, pero leer este diccionario de sinónimos me ayudo a tener la habilidad y destreza necesaria para hablar ese día, y afortunadamente todo salió bien ese día.

But as I told them you can not only find synonyms but antonyms in the same line (first the synonyms and then the antonyms) which makes the search much easier and immediate, it also offers more than 100 thousand meanings and 12 thousand antonyms. And although it is true that today you can get these results through the web with a simple click, I think these books are a good option because they do not require internet connection or batteries 🤗 is the same reason why I will always prefer the physical format of books rather than digital.

Pero como les dije no solo puedes encontrar sinónimos sino antónimos en la misma línea (primero los sinónimos y luego los antónimos) lo cual hace que la búsqueda sea mucho más fácil e inmediata, además ofrece más de 100 mil acepciones y 12 mil antónimos. Y aunque es verdad que hoy en día se puede conseguir estos resultados a través de la web con un simple tecleo, pienso que estos libros son una buena opción porque no requieren de conexión a internet ni de baterías 🤗 es la misma razón por la cuál siempre preferiré el formato físico de los libros antes que el digital.

This option has not only helped me to write my own texts but also to have a better reading comprehension, it has been the ideal companion when I'm reading a book and I come across a word whose meaning I don't know completely 😉 So I really recommend you to get something like this because without a doubt it makes a difference, it helps you significantly to improve the quality of your work 😉, to increase your knowledge and reading comprehension.

Esta opción además no solo me ha servido para redactar mis propios textos sino para tener una mejor comprensión lectora, ha sido el acompañante ideal cuando estoy leyendo algún libro y me topo con alguna palabra cuyo significado desconozco por completo 😉 Así que de verdad les recomiendo que consigan algo así porque sin lugar a dudas hace la diferencia, te ayuda significativamente a mejorar la calidad de tu trabajo 😉, a incrementar tus conocimientos y comprensión lectora.
