As I have said on previous occasions, I don't usually watch many K-dramas, mainly because I was very prejudiced and came to believe that they were all romantic comedies when in reality they go far beyond that. There are different genres such as comedy, romance, action, thriller, and even horror, so this time, don't be fooled by the cute name of this series because, like me, you will be very surprised.
Como he dicho en tras ocasiones, usualmente no suelo ver muchos K dramas, en especial porque fui muy prejuiciosa y llegué a creer que todo se trataba de comedias románticas cuando en realdad va mucho más allá de eso, hay distintos géneros como comedia, romance, acción, thriller e incluso terror, así que en esta ocasión no se dejen llevar por el tierno nombre de esta serie porque al igual que a mí los sorprenderá muchísimo.
Overview/Resumen
Sweet Home is an apocalyptic horror series in which we see the story and conflicts of several characters who suddenly discover that the world as they knew it has changed drastically. A strange disease causes some people to begin to mutate terribly, turning into monsters. No one knows why this is happening or what is causing it. They only know that when they start to experience nosebleeds, they have little time left as human beings. But we especially see how the protagonist, Cha Hyun-soo, although he has undergone the mutation, seems to be a special being in every way. In the first season, we see how all the neighbors locked inside the Green Home building have to survive, while in the other two seasons the setting changes, and the plot mainly takes place in a stadium where most of the city's survivors have been taken.)
Dulce Hogar es una serie de terror apocalíptico en el que vemos la historia y conflictos de varios personajes que de un momento a otro descubren que el mundo tal como lo conocían ha cambiado drásticamente, una extraña enfermedad hace que algunas personas comiencen a mutar terriblemente, convirtiéndose en monstruos, nadie sabe porqué pasa o que lo provoca, solo saben que cuando comienzan a experimentar sangrado nasal, les queda poco tiempo como seres humanos, pero en especial vemos como el protagonista, Cha Hyun-soo, si bien ha experimentado la mutación, parece un ser especial en todos los sentidos. En la primera temporada vemos como tienen que sobrevivir todos los vecinos encerrados dentro del edificio Green Home, mientras que en las otras dos temporadas el escenario cambia, y la trama mayormente se desarrolla en un estadio a donde han sido conducidos la mayoría de los sobrevivientes de la ciudad.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
The series is very interesting because it raises several issues in the same content. From the beginning, we see action. Although we are given context about the characters and the environment, the pace is fast, so it doesn't waste too much time on unnecessary information. It gets straight to the point. At the beginning, the story shows us how depression is a very dangerous illness, in fact, as dangerous or even more dangerous than the pandemic that the characters will have to face from then on. For those who perceive it from the outside, depression is silent, but for those who suffer from it, it is loud and unbearable, and there is only one way out, and it is not a favorable one. However, Cha Hyun-soo (the protagonist) discovers that he still has a place in the world, that he can still be useful to others. But another theme that the series also raises is that the situation is more complex than they imagine. Human beings usually live by appearances, what they can perceive at first glance (monsters are terrifying and aggressive, so they must be gotten rid of), but monsters do not always look like monsters. there are human beings with truly aberrant and monstrous intentions and behaviors, while there are monsters who, although their appearance may be intimidating, actually have more empathy, resilience, and discernment than many people.
La serie es muy interesante porque plantea varios temas en un mismo contenido, desde el inicio vemos acción, si bien nos dan contexto de los personajes y el entorno, el ritmo es rápido, así que no pierde demasiado tiempo en información innecesaria, va directamente al grano, al inicio la historia nos muestra como la depresión es una enfermedad muy peligrosa, de hecho tanto o más peligrosa que la pandemia a la que se tendrán que enfrentar los personajes de allí en adelante, para quienes la perciben desde afuera la depresión es silenciosa, pero para quién la padece es ruidosa e insoportable y solo existe una salida, una nada favorable, sin embargo Cha Hyun-soo (el protagonista) descubre que aún tiene un lugar en el mundo, que todavía puede ser útil para los demás. Pero otra de los temas que también plantea la serie es que la situación es más compleja de lo que imaginan, el ser humano usualmente vive de apariencias, lo que puede percibir a simple vista (los monstruos son aterradores y agresivos, por lo tanto hay que deshacerse de ellos) pero los monstruos no siempre lucen como tal, hay seres humanos con intenciones y comportamientos verdaderamente aberrantes y monstruosos, mientras que hay monstruos que aunque su apariencia podría resultar intimidante, en realidad guardan más empatía, resiliencia y discernimiento que muchas personas.
The monsters' designs are very original, each with different features and a different way of attacking. For example, from the first season, I particularly remember the protein monster, which was one of the ones that impressed me the most, as it attacked using its weight and strength, charging like a bull 😲. Another monster that caught my attention starred in one of the most shocking scenes in the series, which also demonstrates the excellent mastery of tension and terror that Asians have. In the scene I'm about to show you, you'll see a monster that was blinded after someone partially cut off its head, so it starts walking around looking for survivors while complaining that it can't see. However, its sense of hearing is very acute, so the slightest noise puts it on alert. It even says, “I can hear you” when it hears the radio in the building. It's chilling.
El diseño de los monstruos es muy original, cada uno con un rasgos diferentes y una manera distinta de atacar, pero, por ejemplo de la primera temporada recuerdo particularmente al monstruo proteína que fue uno de los que más me impresionó ya que atacaba usando su peso y fuerza, embistiendo como un toro 😲, y el otro que llamó mi atención protagonizó una de las escenas más impactantes de la serie, y que demuestra además el excelente dominio de la tensión y el terror que tienen los asiáticos. En la escena que les mostraré a continuación verán a un monstruo que quedó ciego luego de que alguien le cortara parcialmente la cabeza, así que comienza a caminar en busca de sobrevivientes mientras se queja de que no puede ver, sin embargo su sentido del oído es muy agudo, así que el más mínimo ruido lo pone en alerta, incluso dice "puedo oírte" cuando escucha la radio del edificio, es escalofriante 😨 😱
An important thing to keep in mind is that the monsters' transformation will depend largely on their own desires, their most intrinsic desires, and they must also experience an internal struggle for 15 days to try to preserve their humanity. So it is a metaphor to show that repressed desires or emotions such as anger, pain, or greed can transform you to the point of leaving you unrecognizable.

This series originally began as a webtoon of the same name (Korean comic), but there is also a prequel called “Shotgun Boy.” So far, I've only had the opportunity to read “Shotgun Boy,” but I'd like to read “Sweet Home” to see if it's as good as the series. The truth is that it has startled me on more than one occasion. Originalmente esta serie comenzó como un webtoon homónimo (comic coreano) pero también de la precuela llamada "Chico Escopeta". Hasta ahora solo he tenido la oportunidad de leer "Chico escopeta" pero me gustaría leer "Dulce Hogar" para comprobar si es igual de bueno que la serie. La verdad es que me ha hecho sobresaltar en más de una ocasión, cada capítulo invita a ver el siguiente y maneja conceptos muy interesantes que invitan a reflexionar sobre la psique humana y nuestros comportamientos. Ahora me doy cuenta de porqué ustedes andan obsesionadas con esta serie, jaja, si tiene todo lo que les gusta: acción y monstruos raros, pero sí, tiene un gran concepto.
