Hoy estuve haciendo algunas diligencias en el centro y me sorprendí al ver una de las calles cerradas, completamente cerrada, había mucha gente trabajando en algo y varios camiones además de toldos, entonces me acerqué para intentar averiguar de qué se trataba todo eso y me sorprendió ver que estaban armando un escenario. Yo no entendía de qué se trataba ya que no había ninguna celebración o evento de fiesta patronal que yo supiera, entonces le pregunté a uno de los trabajadores de qué se trataba todo aquello, porqué toda esa cantidad de personas trabajando allí y toda la parafernalia daba a entender que sería un evento muy importante 😃.
These are the preparations for the canonization ceremony of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández. Venezuelans need no introduction to this figure, but for those who are unfamiliar, he was a doctor, scientist, and kind-hearted philanthropist who greatly helped the poor at the beginning of the 20th century. He didn't charge fees or simply bought medical treatment for them. He also made many scientific contributions to the country, bringing, for example, the first microscope. What's surprising is that after his death, many miracles were attributed to his interception, earning him recognition from the Catholic Church with the title of Venerable. After many years in which many miracles were attributed to him, he was recently given the title of Blessed. However, very recently, the Vatican finally announced his canonization, and this certainly made the entire Venezuelan people very happy. The event will formally take place in October in Vatican City, but celebrations will be held throughout Venezuela.
Se trata de los preparativos para la ceremonia de canonización del Doctor José Gregorio Hernández. Los venezolanos no necesitan ninguna introducción respecto a este personaje, pero para los que no lo conozcan les diré que él fue un médico, científico y filántropo de gran corazón, el cuál ayudó muchísimo a los pobres a inicios del siglo XX, él no cobraba sus honorarios o simplemente les compraba el tratamiento médico a los pacientes que no podían pagarlo, además hizo muchos aportes científicos al país, trayendo por ejemplo el primer microscopio, pero lo sorprendente es que después de su muerte se adjudicaron muchos milagros debido a su intercepción, con lo cuál consiguió el reconocimiento de la iglesia católica con el título de Venerable, luego de muchísimos años en los cuales se le adjudicaron muchos milagros más recientemente le dieron el título de Beato, sin embargo hace muy poco tiempo el vaticano anunció finalmente su canonización, y esto desde luego hizo muy feliz a todo el pueblo venezolano. El evento formalmente se realizará en octubre en la ciudad del vaticano, pero se harán celebraciones por todo Venezuela.

Así que tiene todo el sentido del mundo que estén montando ese escenario allí porque en ese templo hay una reliquia del santo, y desde el momento en el que trajeron esa reliquia pusieron una escultura bellísima allí, con la cuál las personas se pueden tomar fotografías.
So it makes perfect sense that they're setting up that stage there because there's a relic of the saint in that temple, and from the moment they brought that relic, they put a beautiful sculpture there, with which people can take pictures.
La iglesia se llama San Francisco de Asís oficialmente, pero desde que trajeron la reliquia le añadieron además el nombre de Santuario del Dr José Gregorio Hernández. Es la segunda iglesia más importante y antigua de la ciudad después de la catedral, pero en los años de la colonia era la capilla de un convento que estaba justo al lado, y que hoy en día es un edificio que pertenece a la universidad de Carabobo. Su nombre en aquella época era "Capilla del Real Convento de San Buenaventura de la Nueva Valencia del Rey"
The church is officially called San Francisco de Asís, but since the relic was brought here, it has also been named the Sanctuary of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández. It is the second most important and oldest church in the city after the cathedral, but during the colonial era, it was the chapel of a convent located right next door, and today it is a building belonging to the University of Carabobo. Its name at that time was "Chapel of the Royal Convent of San Buenaventura de la Nueva Valencia del Rey."
Esta es la placa conmemorativa que pusieron en honor al hombre que hizo tanto bien al servicio de su país y en especial de los pobres y los más necesitados.
This is the commemorative plaque they placed in honor of the man who did so much good in service to his country, especially the poor and those most in need.
Esa placa la ubicaron el mismo día que pusieron la escultura interactiva del Dr José Gregorio Hernández, y me gusta porque es un hermoso homenaje. Muero por que llegue el día del evento, obviamente que pienso ir con mi familia, Dios mediante, supongo que estarán transmitiendo en directo el evento desde el vaticano y que lo podremos ver a través de alguna pantalla en estos escenarios, además de que posiblemente hayan obras de teatro o espectáculos culturales, solo estoy especulando pero sé que será algo muy emocionante, tanto si eres católico como si no lo eres, porque también es una cuestión de idiosincrasia y de orgullo nacional. Gracias por permitirme compartir con ustedes mi experiencia y mis expectativas, gracias además por leer mi post, nos vemos en otra ocasión 😊.
That plaque was placed the same day they put up the interactive sculpture of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, and I love it because it's a beautiful tribute. I'm dying for the day of the event to arrive. Obviously, I plan to go with my family, God willing. I suppose they'll be broadcasting the event live from the Vatican and we'll be able to watch it on some screen in these venues. There may also be plays or cultural performances. I'm just speculating, but I know it will be very exciting, whether you're Catholic or not, because it's also a matter of idiosyncrasy and national pride.
