I just found this community and just by reading some posts I realized that I would love it instantly because I also love music, it is one of the most inspiring arts in the world and there are many singers, bands and melodies that in a way have generated a great impact on me, one of those is certainly Michael Jackson, and it is not precisely because of his unique and wonderful style of dancing, but because through the lyrics of his songs and his beautiful voice he moved consciences around the planet. One of those songs that I consider more powerful and inspiring is the one I want to talk to you about in my first post in this community, I mean Man in the Mirror, which coincidentally reaches me especially when there are war conflicts in the world, perhaps because it is the time when we become more reflective, but from the first time I heard this song I was left with a great teaching. We constantly complain about everything but especially about inflation, the government of our countries, our neighbors, our environment, but Michael Jackson in this song invites us to introspection, to evaluate ourselves first and what we can do from our position.

Looking in the mirror could be the first step to know yourself better and from there evaluate your possibilities to contribute something to society because everyone, regardless of race, gender or social or political position can generate changes that make a difference, no matter what we do, little or much, I assure you that it will generate a great impact, and to consolidate what I say I will tell you a little anecdote that reminds me a lot of this song.

A few years ago I became seriously ill, I had a slight discomfort in my stomach that gradually became an unbearable pain, along with my parents and some relatives I visited several hospitals in the city, some doctors gave me a bad diagnosis and painkillers that were only useful for a few hours, until after spending the night awake because of that excruciating pain I asked my mom to accompany me to see a doctor whose office was near my house and where I had not gone at first because it was a private office and I did not know if I could afford it, but after consulting our savings I decided to go and guess what? the doctor not only gave me the correct diagnosis, appendicitis (which at the time of surgery they discovered turned into peritonitis) but she also did not charge me for the consultation, she told me that I should not worry about it, and right there some patients told me that she never charged for consultations when she knew that the patients would have big expenses ahead, or simply when she knew that they could not pay.

This made me think that while some doctors act lazily or negligently, others make a difference by really caring about solving their patients' problems, and that a small action such as not charging their fees to those who cannot pay them or to those who have too many expenses to do, has an impact on the fact that the patient in question will be able to pay with that money some analysis or medicine they need, so their action generated a very positive impact on me.

However, even though I have always liked this song and it has made me reflect, I confess that I had never seen the music video, until my former boss showed it to me while I was at work, and honestly I must admit that together we broke down before so many sad images: war, protests, war attacks, malnourished children (some with tears in their eyes) but to hear Michael say: "I'm gonna make a chage for once in my life, it's gonna feel real good" makes your soul fill with hope because you know there is so much that can be done for humanity, to try to turn this world into something much more dignified and beautiful for everyone (that's what we were created for) What good is gold if we only wear it around our necks or on our fingers? It could be used to buy food or medicine. Michael also tells us about the children we see in the streets hungry and even though we are not their parents, not even their relatives, who are we to ignore their pain? But the best reflection is when after questioning how we could make this world a better place, a wonderful affirmation arises: "I will start with the man in the mirror".

And I'm so happy to see at the end of the video more hopeful images that confirm that all this is possible. Thank you all so much for letting me share with you my feelings about this beautiful song by the king of pop 😊, I hope for you it was equally inspiring.
