In Touch with Nature [ESP/ENG]

The other day I was running some errands with my sister, and I had to wait for her for a long time while she finalized some details about her new job, so I took advantage of the time and visited a public square that also serves as an open-air museum. I love it because it is surrounded by nature, and at every turn I found many interesting things that I wanted to share with all of you. This place is located in the city of Valencia, Carabobo state, Venezuela.
El otro día estuve haciendo algunas diligencias con mi hermana, y tuve que esperarla mucho tiempo mientras ella afinaba algunos detalles en lo que será su nuevo trabajo, así que aproveché y visité una plaza pública que además funge como museo al aire libre, me encanta porque está rodeado de mucha naturaleza y a cada paso fui encontrándome con muchas cosas interesantes que quise compartir con todos ustedes. Este lugar está ubicado en la ciudad de Valencia, estado Carabobo en Venezuela.
I won't show you the sculptures because I did that in another post, but I'll leave the link at the end of this one in case you want to take a look. As you can see in this photo, there are many trees, but one of my favorites, fortunately abundant in this country and especially in this city, is the mango tree. In fact, while I was walking, one fell to the ground, so I took the opportunity to pick it up, and later another one fell, which made me very happy. It also reminded me of a time when my best friend was walking with a Russian friend of hers, and he was surprised to see so many ripe and tempting mangoes scattered all over the ground in the park they were visiting. He even asked her if they could pick them, and she said yes, that nothing was stopping him from picking as many as he wanted. So when she told me that story, I felt blessed because mango is one of my favorite fruits, so it's great that I was born and live in a tropical country where this fruit is abundant.
No les mostraré las esculturas porque eso lo hice en otro post pero les dejaré el link al final de este por si quieren echarle un vistazo. Como ustedes pueden ver en esta foto hay muchísimos árboles, pero uno de los que más me gusta, afortunadamente abundan en este país y sobre todo en esta ciudad, me refiero a los árboles de mangos 😃, de hecho mientras yo paseaba justamente cayó un de ellos al piso, así que aproveché para recogerlo, y más adelante cayó otro, así que esto me puso muy contenta 😊. Y además me recordó una ocasión en que mi mejor amiga estaba paseando junto a un amigo suyo que es ruso y él se sorprendió al ver tantos mangos maduros y provocativos esparcidos por todo el piso del parque que estaban visitando, incluso le preguntó a ella si podían tomarlos y ella le dijo que sí, que nada impedía que pudiera tomar tantos como él quisiera, así que cuando ella me contó esa anécdota me sentí bendecida porque el mango es una de mis frutas favoritas, así que es grandioso que yo haya nacido y viva en un país tropical donde esta fruta abunda.
As I continued walking across the square, I came across a flowering bush that I really like and that reminds me of the town where I lived until I was eight years old, because there are lots of these bushes there. Its scientific name is Lantana Trifolia, but here people commonly call it “Cariaquito.” I've always liked the intense aroma of these flowers, although my mom doesn't like it because she says it's too strong. I tried to take a good shot so you could see the bee that was there trying to extract pollen, so I tried to move as little as possible so as not to scare the insect 😄 In fact, I don't know if you can see it, let's see if you can find it.
Mientras avanzaba en mi caminata por la plaza encontré un arbusto de flores que me gusta mucho y que me recuerda al pueblo donde viví hasta los ocho años porque allá abundan arbustos de estos, su nombre científico es Lantana Trifolia pero aquí la gente la llama comúnmente "Cariaquito". Siempre me ha gustad el intenso aroma que desprenden estas flores, aunque a mi mamá no le gusta porque dice que es muy fuerte. Intenté hacer una buena toma para que ustedes pudieran apreciar la abeja que estaba allí tratando de extraer polen, así que intenté moverme lo menos posible para no asustar al insecto 😄 De hecho no sé si ustedes puedan verla, veamos si pueden encontrarla.
And something that particularly caught my attention was seeing how nature follows its course, reclaiming spaces, expanding and imposing itself from silence, demonstrating that it is superior to anything man can create with his hands. That's what I felt when I saw this tree pierced by an iron beam that was nothing more than an old lamppost, the only remnant of what this square once was many years ago, before its restoration. I suppose a seed fell next to the post, germinated, sprouted from the ground, and continued to grow until it uprooted the post.
Y algo que llamó particularmente mi atención fue ver como la naturaleza sigue su curso reclamando espacios, como desde el silencio va expandiéndose e imponiéndose, demostrando que es superior a todo lo que el hombre pueda crear con sus manos. Todo eso fue lo que sentí al ver este árbol atravesado por una viga de hierro que no era otra cosa más que un un viejo poste de luz, el único vestigio de lo que fue alguna vez esta plaza hace muchos años, antes de su restauración. Supongo que alguna semilla cayó junto al poste, esta germinó, brotó del suelo y continuó creciendo hasta arrancar el poste.
