Family lunch [ESP/ENG]

Algunas veces no necesitamos excusas para reunirnos, no bodas, ni bautizos ni graduaciones ni cumpleaños, a veces solo basta el sentimiento de agradecimiento por estar vivos y unidos el que nos lleva a reunirnos en familia, eso fue exactamente lo que hicimos en casa de mi tía mayor el pasado sábado de Gloria en Semana Santa, aprovechando los días de vacaciones. Hace unos meses nos habíamos reunido en ese mismo lugar pero por causas muy diferentes, el fallecimiento del esposo de mi tía, a quien todos amábamos muchísimo, era de esas almas nobles cuyo recuerdo es indeleble porque está grabado en las memorias y corazones de todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo, fue un momento doloroso, pero como bien sabemos, debemos avanzar, así que en esta ocasión nos reunimos en familia para celebrar la vida, para agradecer los dones recibidos y bendición de poder contar los unos con los otros.

Sometimes we don't need excuses to get together, not weddings, baptisms, graduations or birthdays, sometimes it is only the feeling of gratitude for being alive and united that brings us together as a family, that was exactly what we did at my oldest aunt's house last Easter Saturday, taking advantage of the vacation days. A few months ago we had gathered in the same place but for very different reasons, the death of my aunt's husband, whom we all loved very much, he was one of those noble souls whose memory is indelible because it is engraved in the memories and hearts of all those who had the joy of knowing him, it was a painful moment, but as we well know, we must move forward, so this time we gathered as a family to celebrate life, to thank for the gifts received and blessing of being able to count on each other.

The rain started suddenly, the thunder shook the windows and the sky darkened with gray clouds, but the “bad weather” did not discourage us at all, on the contrary, we were happy because this would cool down the atmosphere that until that moment was very hot 😄.

I really like this little corner of my aunt's house because it is the one with the family portraits, especially the one of the graduations, she keeps portraits of the whole family but at the top she has some of all the nephews and nieces who have graduated, it is something nice that she shows off with pride and gives her satisfaction, it was the dream of the grandparents.

We all got down to work, I was in charge of preparing the salad, one of my aunts was in charge of preparing the sauce, my mom and another of my aunts were in charge of seasoning and preparing the chicken and in no time we were almost ready to start.

At first we had planned to prepare the chicken grilled in the backyard, but due to the bad weather the plans changed and we decided to make it fried, Broaster style, which in my humble opinion is even more delicious 😋 Sometimes plans change for the better, and so is life, sometimes plans change drastically and inexorably for one reason or another but although we are uncomfortable at the beginning having to redo the plans, they are always, always for the better.

And here is the result of our effort, a delicious broaster chicken napped with garlic sauce, accompanied by a side of salad and cornmeal buns 😋 but best of all was to taste the dish and enjoy it in the company of family and some friends that we also invited.
