Hola, amigos, como pueden ver, de vez en cuando me topo con algún recuerdo que me gustaría compartir con todos ustedes. En este caso se trata una de las tradiciones más divertidas de navidad que tenemos en mi país. No les voy a mentir, realmente esto es una oda al consumismo, pero también es la excusa perfecta para divertirse y pasarla bien, no tanto por el hecho de lo que recibes, sino por todo lo que hay detrás de eso. En mi familia, días atrás escribimos en una hoja los nombres de todos los miembros de la familia que desean participar (primos, tíos, sobrinos, cuñados y algunos amigos de toda la vida) luego cortamos trocitos de papel con un nombre escrito, lo arrugamos (para que no sea legible) y lo metemos en una bolsa con todos los demás, después cada quién agita la bolsa y elige un nombre al azar. El chiste es elegir un regalo en base a los gustos de esa persona y comprobar así que tanto la conocemos. El valor del regalo no importa, a veces es hasta simbólico.
Hello friends, as you can see, every now and then I stumble across a memory I'd like to share with you all. In this case, it's one of the most fun Christmas traditions we have in my country. I won't lie, it's a real ode to consumerism, but it's also the perfect excuse to have fun and enjoy ourselves, not so much because of what you receive, but because of everything that goes into it. In my family, a few days ago, we wrote the names of all the family members who wanted to participate (cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, in-laws, and some lifelong friends) on a piece of paper. Then we cut out small pieces of paper with one name written on each, crumpled them up (so they weren't legible), and put them in a bag with all the others. Then everyone shook the bag and picked a name at random. The idea is to choose a gift based on that person's tastes and see how well we know them. The value of the gift doesn't matter; sometimes it's even symbolic.
Por lo general alguien asume el liderazgo tomando el micrófono y dirige la operación (quién inicia y quién termina) siempre iniciamos por mi tía (la mayor de las hermanas de mi mamá) y a medida que vamos avanzando, algunos dicen directamente a quién les corresponde regalar, pero otros imitan a esa persona para que los demás adivinen 😄 y de esta manera la dinámica se vuelve más divertida. Al final no pueden faltar las fotos con los respectivos regalos. Estas fotos son de más o menos unos 15 años atrás, hace bastante tiempo, pero eran muy lindos recuerdos, la familia estaba completa, o más bien casi completa porque faltaba la abuela que se había ido al cielo en 1997, pero estaban mis dos tías y el abuelo (que hoy en día están en el cielo) y también estaban los primos que hoy en día están entre sur américa y Europa, por eso celebrábamos con más ímpetu y entusiasmo.
Usually, someone takes the lead, grabs the microphone, and directs the exchange (who starts and who finishes). We always begin with my aunt (my mom's eldest sister), and as we go along, some people directly announce who's responsible for giving a gift, while others imitate that person so everyone else has to guess 😄. This makes the whole thing more fun. Finally, we always take photos with the gifts. These photos are from about 15 years ago, quite a while back, but they're such lovely memories. The family was all there, or almost all, because my grandmother had passed away in 1997. But my two aunts and grandfather were there (who are now in heaven), and so were my cousins, who are now scattered between South America and Europe. That's why we celebrated with so much enthusiasm and passion.
De todos modos los que aún seguimos aquí continuamos las tradiciones familiares, no pueden faltar los abrazos, las sonrisas y los buenos deseos para el año que se apróxima. Los tiempos cambian, la vida evoluciona, pero los sentimientos: el cariño y el afecto, esos siguen 😌 siendo los mismos
Anyway, those of us who are still here continue the family traditions; hugs, smiles, and good wishes for the coming year are essential. Times change, life evolves, but feelings—love and affection—remain the same.

Saludos amiga, esta es una tradición muy buena y aquí en casa también se hacía y de verdad que era un momento de mucha felicidad, alegría y sobre todo poder recibir un gran regalo de ese persona quien regalaba, además los chiste y ese misterio de descubrir a quien le tocó también le daba y poco de emoción para así luego seguir con las demás actividades de ese noche de navidad. Este es un gran recuerdo.
