Big Fish and Begonia (Review) ESP/ENG

Today I want to review a film I saw a few days ago on Netflix, it is Big Fish and Begeonia, a film with a great teaching and a beautiful aesthetic that however I had not had the pleasure of knowing before but in which I could deepen with my analysis as I watched it.
Hoy quiero reseñar una película que vi hace unos días en Netflix, se trata de Big Fish and Begeonia, un film con una gran enseñanza y una estética preciosa que sin embargo yo no había tenido el placer de conocer antes, pero en la que pude profundizar con mi análisis a medida que la veía.
Overview/Resumen
Chun, a girl who lives in an ancestral fantasy world, in her process of transition to maturity participates in a ritual in which she must become a red dolphin and reach through a portal to the world of humans, the purpose of this is that Chun and her companions can experience how humans live, However, they are all warned of how dangerous humans can be, so when Chun discovers a boy with his little sister in the forest, he is suspicious of him, even though he seemed like a good person and was even playing with other dolphins. On one occasion Chun gets caught in a net and feels distrustful of this boy who comes to rescue her, so she wriggles to try to escape from his grasp, however in the struggle, the boy was swept away by the current and ends up drowning. Chun feels very guilty so he negotiates with the Guardian of Souls to bring the boy back to life, he agrees but takes half of Chun's life in exchange for the boy's soul that had materialized into a tiny dolphin. The guardian tells Chun that he must care for him and feed him until he reaches adulthood, which is when he can return to the world of humans, but his plans change drastically along the way.
Chun, una niña que vive en un mundo fantástico ancestral, en su proceso de transición a la madurez participa en un ritual en el cual debe convertirse en un delfín rojo y llegar a través de un portal hasta el mundo de los humanos, el objetivo de este es que Chun y sus compañeros puedan experimentar como viven los seres humanos, sin embargo todos son advertidos de lo peligrosos que pueden llegar a ser los humanos, así que cuando Chun descubre a un muchacho junto a su hermanita en el bosque siente desconfianza de él, a pesar de que él se veía como una buena persona e incluso estaba jugando con otros delfines. En una ocasión Chun queda atrapada en una red y siente desconfianza de este muchacho que viene a rescatarla, por lo tanto se retuerce para tratar de escapar de su alcance, no obstante en el forcejeo, el niño fue arrastrado por la corriente y termina ahogándose. Chun se siente muy culpable así que negocia con el Guardián de las Almas para que devuelva al muchacho a la vida, él acepta pero toma la mitad de la vida de Chun a cambio del alma del muchacho que se había materializado en un diminuto delfín. El guardián le dice Chun que debe cuidarlo y alimentarlo hasta que alcance la edad adulta, que es cuando puede regresar al mundo de los humanos, pero sus planes cambian drásticamente en el camino.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
As you can see due to the aesthetics and the story as such, this is a Chinese animated film and I definitely love how it is structured, I love the color palette where, as it could not be otherwise, red predominates, its aesthetics is beautiful and the story is unbeatable. I love how they represent that connection between the world of humans and the fantastic beings, who are not gods but neither are they common beings, the balance of life depends on them. On the other hand I also like the ambiguity of the world of humans where not all people are good or bad, but also speaks of discernment, we must act with caution to analyze those around us and to reach a conclusion as accurate as possible. Chun had predetermined ideas about humans and to make matters worse when he reached the surface he saw how some of them fished and hurt many marine species, which reinforced that distrust, and ironically it was that distrust that made the boy end up dying.
Tal como pueden ver debido a la estética y a la historia como tal, esta es una película de animación china y definitivamente amo como está estructurada, amo la paleta de colores donde, como no podía ser de otra forma predomina el rojo, su estética es bellísima y la historia insuperable. Me encanta como representan esa conexión entre el mundo de los humanos y los seres fantásticos, que no son dioses pero tampoco son seres comunes, de ellos depende el equilibrio de la vida. Por otra parte también me gusta que se muestre esa ambigüedad del mundo de los humanos donde no todas las personas son buenas o malas, pero también nos habla del discernimiento, debemos actuar con cautela para poder analizar a quienes nos rodean y poder llegar a una conclusión lo más acertada posible. Chun tenía ideas predeterminadas sobre los humanos y para colmo cuando llegó a la superficie vio como algunos de ellos pescaban y lastimaban a muchas especies marinas, lo que reforzó esa desconfianza, e irónicamente fue esa desconfianza la que hizo que el chico terminara falleciendo.
Another point to highlight in this story is the sacrifice for love, some humans like the guy at the beginning are willing to give even their lives to defend what they love, and he loved nature, the sea and the animals, Chun for her part, feeling guilty was willing to give her life to bring him back, while Qiu was willing to give his life for her and at the end. .. I won't say anything else because even though I love spoilers I know many people don't, but I'll just tell you that he is a being of integrity and high moral codes who sees far beyond his own interests and longings.
Otro punto a resaltar en esta historia es el sacrificio por amor, algunos humanos como el chico del inicio están dispuestos a dar incluso la vida por defender lo que amas, y él amaba la naturaleza, el mar y los animales, Chun por su parte, al sentirse culpable estaba dispuesta a dar la vida para traerlo de vuelta, mientras que Qiu estaba dispuesto a dar la vida por ella y al final... no diré nada más porque a pesar de que amo los spoilers sé que mucha gente no, pero solo les diré que él es un ser íntegro y con altos códigos morales que ve mucho más allá de sus propios intereses y anhelos.
And obviously I loved how those elements so typical of the fantastic world and that are part of Chinese folklore were represented, it makes the film even more interesting with that enigmatic touch.
Y obviamente amé como fueron representados esos elementos tan propios del mundo fantástico y que forman parte del folcklore chino, hace que la película sea aun más interesante con ese toque enigmático.
This is a film worth watching more than once but I recommend you to watch it at least once to draw your own conclusions, for now I say goodbye grateful for the opportunity to express my ideas through this review 😉.
