The son music in two-tone/ El son en dos tonos-#Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]
The richness of music is one of the most motivating ideas I find when creating. Associating my processes with rhythms is part of my daily life as an artist. Trying to find a way to portray the pure forms of Cuban music (and by pure I mean autochthonous) it has occurred to me to take photographs of some instruments. How else would I be able to portray the sound if not by taking the subject that provokes it as the protagonist?
The very concept of music in essence leads me to black and white photography, because of the exposure of contrasts that propitiates the direct dialogue with the code.
On this occasion I took the son, as a purely Cuban genre, and the bongo as part of the percussion instruments themselves.
I have tried to contextualize it according to the percussion set and that the captures provide a simplified reading of its form, of the relationship between parts of its structure. The black and white proposes this path and enhances it.
But as I can't separate the modes of poetry from what I do, I wanted to approach my poetics not only from the lens but also from the word. With these images as a starting point, I have written this romance accordingly:
Two voices, between hands the sound
returns in the wood its secret,
by rhythmic sentences possessed
nostalgia resounds with echoes.
The right hand in the box puts matter
while its left burns on the leather,
it chimes its reasons in cadence
to the sublime contact of the fingers.
With the base of the palm, it treads on the beat,it is rhythmic, it tastes all fire.
It is of son the call that, in the key of metal
of metal, summons him to foundation.
It boasts of other timbres, with vehemence
describes his passion from the cowbell.
The angel of the bongo dictates the coda,
it coins a flag on his body.

So, my friends of #blackawhite, this is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
I hope you like both the photograph and the text and that you will share your thoughts with me.
I bid you farewell until another monochrome series.
I leave you hugs of light

Just as when we photograph a bird we can get an idea of its song and its sounds in nature, or when we photograph a cricket we can hear its chirping, so too when we photograph these musical objects we can feel the music and the native sounds that derive from them.
Black and white is perfect for them, because when I looked at the Cuban flag, I could see the colour; the mind and imagination give it colour, and black and white give it style. Poetry accompanies the sound of music with its beautiful words; it is precious. Excellent photographs! Thank you very much!
