The GHAWG Diaries, Part 13
What's happening behind the scenes to bring new GHAWG content? The GHAWG Diaries is my recap of what I've been doing.
Base image came in another form from PublicDomainPictures.Net. Edits made using MS Paint.
Introduction
There's more to #GHAWG than just daily zapfic entries and the spreadsheet I use to track them. There's research. There's review. There's also thought and inspiration. Then there are the tools involved in doing any of those tasks.
Just to keep things from getting scrambled in my head, and also to document for myself what I've been considering, I began keeping a diary of my activities as they concern #GHAWG. With posts in the GHAWG, Uninterrupted
series on hold at Act 6 while Interlude 3 remains in progress, I decided to share these diary entries with everyone on Hive blockchain.
On Mondays which don't feature a GHAWG, Uninterrupted
post-- GHAWG-U-- I'll post diary entries from the previous 7 days or between GHAWG-U posts if the time between them is short. For Part 13, there are 7 days' worth of diary entries. The first entry starts on 2024-January-1.
Before anyone scratches their heads at a few terms, here are 3 I began using since the previous post:
Term | Meaning |
---|---|
Rat Bike | Code name for #GHAWG (the first and current zapfic serial) |
Blue Lion | Code name for the middle zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |
The Bronze | Code name for the final zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe |

📓 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! HAPPY 2024!! If 2023 was a good year for you, may 2024 be an even better year for you. If 2023 sucked, then may 2024 be promising and rewarding. 📓 Is __GHAWG__ following _me_?? While having a meal at a local pizzeria the television is showing the computer animated movie _Cars_. When it was first released, _Cars_ received rave reviews from both critics and moviegoers. At the time, it wasn't my kind of movie, so I didn't see it; my interests then were more along the lines of American series such as _Family Guy_ and Japanese anime such as _Bleach_ and _Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex_. So why am I mentioning _Cars_? An integral part of the movie's story is Old Route 66. What I know about Old Route 66 is based on two things: the lyrics to the iconic song redone numerous times since its debut in 1946, and research I've been doing on it in service to GHAWG. I recognized Kingman, Arizona and Barstow, California on bumper stickers. I recognized certain landmarks even though they were renamed. The movie even had a story explaining the stretch of Old Route 66 near Radiator Springs, the movie's main setting which was bypassed when Interstate 40 was built to supercede Route 66. Before having my meal, I had no idea that _Cars_ had any of those details. Now I will find time in 2024 to see _Cars_ to get a better understanding of the story. Whatever this movie is like, I can say with certainty that it would never have been made in the environment under the current Disney (and Pixar) umbrella. |

📓 Today I added more details to the character dossier for David Guardia, and I began the character dossier for Rhonda Bella. These (among others) are very much under construction, the way many web sites were during the early days of the graphical Worldwide Web. Besides sidebars containing details, these dossiers also need summaries or backstories. Once I have enough of those done, I will publish them to blockchain. 📓 When I began publishing Weekly Summary posts for the zapfic entries posted during the previous 7 days, they were 2 months behind schedule. Now that 2024 is here, I decided to get the Weekly Summary posts caught up with the day-to-day zapfic entries posted at LeoThreads. Instead of publishing the Weekly Summary posts on Saturdays, 7 days apart, I will publish the Weekly Summary posts every 6 days. The next Weekly Summary Post will be published on Friday 2024-January-05. Because some zapfic entries were meant to be treated as a set, the number of zapfic entries in each post will vary. The Weekly Summary posts should be in synch with the daily zapfic serial shortly after 2024-February-10. |

📓 In order to begin the temporary switch to a 6-day schedule for the Weekly Summary posts, I prepared the raw data for the post to be published on Friday 2024-January-05. All that's left is to insert the raw data into a text file I use before I publish the post. |

📓 Besides getting the Weekly Summary post queued up for publishing on Thusday, I was looking for a place along Old Route 66 where something could happen. Whether it's David Guardia going biblical on local government officials or getting slugged in the face by a Frank Sinatra hater in Defiance, Ohio, something needs to happen to advance the story or get characters involved (or both). Although it may happen before then, I'm expecting to have some incident take place in Texas. Even though Old Route 66 has 186 miles in Texas-- the 2nd fewest miles with Kansas at 13 miles-- it may have more populated areas than New Mexico. It's easier for things to happen when people happen to be around. |

📓 The Christmas Season ends tomorrow. As far as GHAWG is concerned, neither Christmas Day nor The Epiphany (the 12th Day, when the 3 Wise Men arrive to offer gifts to the newborn King of Kings) will arrive during the course of Rat Bike . As of the time this post is published, Our Heroes have 3 milestones left to reach before I can conclude GHAWG: 1) They ride Old Route 66 in reverse to Chicago, Illinois, US; 2) Our Heroes arrive at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The Kids start their final year in college; and 3) Our Heroes (by this time, numbering 5) swing back to Iowa. The sequel zapfic series, currently code-named Blue Lion , begins with a quick transition into the first few years of life after the end of David Guardia's Epic Ride before going into the later years where most of the focus of the story will be. While I had much of the framework defined for Blue Lion already, recently I decided to add an element or two from Rhonda Bella's past. These will be brief touches, but they will add flavor to the story.

📓 Today is the final day of the 12 Days of Christmas, made famous in the song of the same name. As I noted yesterday, it's also the day (according to tradition) the Three Wise Men (also known as the Three Kings) arrived at Bethlehem to render honors and gifts to the newborn King of Kings. Knowing this detail, it makes sense to exchange gifts on this day rather than on Christmas Day. It will also be much more economical for everyone involved (which would be all of us). 📓 Usually the Weekly Summary post is published on Saturdays. Since this weekend was the final weekend of 2023, I decided to postpone the Weekly Summary to Sunday, 2023-December-31 (New Year's Eve). The GHAWG Diaries is still going to be publihsed today, 2024-January-01 (New Year's Day). 📓 Now that I determined on Friday the birthdate for Rhonda Bella, I need to see where in Rat Bike I can make use of that detail. It would be odd for David Guardia to marry her if he doesn't even know her birthdate. If I recall correctly (not a given here), the motorcycle rally at STURGIS began on 2028-August-2; this puts Rhonda's birthday during the 10 days of this rally. I will need to review my spreadsheet to see where I can insert a zapfic entry to fill this gap in the story.

📓 I hate to say this, but not much got done today. I was preoccupied with other matters. We all have days like that, but that still doesn't give me an excuse to do nearly nothing. Maybe it's the crazy schedule usually associated with the holiday season starting in December and ending in early January. Maybe it's other things I need to tease out of my mind for other things before I can return to GHAWG business as usual. Maybe I just ran out of gas. Perhaps the start of the first week after the 2023 Holiday Season concludes can help me reset my focus. Let's see about that starting tomorrow. |
When (and Where) To Catch #GHAWG
When
This is the normal schedule for the posting of content for #GHAWG:
● Daily -- Each zapfic entry is posted shortly after midnight, from New York
● Weekends -- Weekly Summaries (with modified screen capture from LeoThreads as cover image) are usually on Saturday, sometimes Sunday
● Monday -- Either GHAWG, Uninterrupted
if present, or The GHAWG Diaries
● Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday -- GHAWG Behind the Scenes
-- The goal is to publish these posts on all days not dedicated to the Weekly Sumamry, GHAWH-U, or The GHAWG Diaries
(TGD). There may be days with no post, so I'll minimize those occasions as best as I can.
Where
● Daily zapfic entries drop at LeoThreads, usually posted shortly after midnight from New York (sometimes around noon)
● All long form posts-- Weekly Summaries, GHAWG-U, and TGD-- can be accessed using the #GHAWGnav sticky post or from my LeoFinance profile page
This week I hope to have more content published and recorded to Hive blockchain.
That's it for this edition of The GHAWG Diaries

Hi, @magnacarta, thanks for using my art in your posts. I admire the consistency of your Zapfic project and it makes me happy to know my art is being shown to so many people.
Just want to let you know, I started offering my Art Services for HBD on HIVE, I haven't gotten any clients yet, but I'm building up my portfolio. Since you already use some of my art I decided to let you know about it.
My prices are like this:
My Divider and lettering service is highly personalized. Here's some Free dividers I created based on your current dividers for the #GHAWG zapfic series:
Second version:
I outlined the text so it should look nice in both the Dark and Light modes of HIVE platforms.
I created this for you for Free, but if you decided to use it I'd like to have a beneficiary whenever you make use of this divider to beautify your posts. Don't feel obligated to use them if you don't want to, though. I merely made them to showcase what I can do.
I'd love to hear what you think!!
Thank you for designing ahmadmanga-style dividers as samples for me to review. At the moment I'm set using the ones I created for this 1st zapfic serial in the series I'm working on. Should I include them in my posts, I will add you as a beneficiary in each post where they are used.
However, in a few months the 1st series of GHAWG (code-named
Rat Bike
; actual short name is GHAWG) will conclude. I will need a fresh graphics kit for the 2nd zapfic serial (code-namedBlue Lion
; actual name to be revealed later), and for the 3rd zapfic serial (code-namedThe Bronze
; actual name TBD and to be revealed later). The look I'm going for is exemplified by the cover images I use for
GHAWG, Uninterrupted
posts; that's where the divider design originated. The cover image where I really need help is forThe GHAWG Diaries
; that one uses a public domain image as a template for a graphic made using (of all things) Excel for the text.I would like to build a following off-chain for the GHAWG content, only all I had to offer was zapfic-entries. I had no way to monetize that content, so I came up with GHAWG-adjacent content. I'm still not sure what to do, but I know I need to offer options which include something like a fee or a subscription. For that, I will need help with graphics.
Haha, it amused me that you code named your next two stories that you haven't finalized a title for yet. I wish I was future-minded to that level.
I'll make sure to familiarize myself with the "GHWAG, Uninterrupted" to know if I'm able to provide for you graphics like that.
You're idea of off-chain content, the first thing that comes to mind is an eBook Compilation of the series. Just throwing the idea out there in case you haven't considered it yet.
P.S: Sorry for the late reply.
Don't worry about the late reply; this is long form, so it's OK.
If you're familiar with Family Guy, the Star Wars-themed episode was titled Blue Harvest because that was the code name for Star Wars when it was first in production. I did something similar here. The code names I gave to the sequel serials won't have any relation to actual titles the serials will receive. I'm sure about the 2nd title, and I'm almost sure about the 3rd title.
After the zapfic form of GHAWG concludes, I will compile the entries into 2 e-books. One e-book will be like
GHAWG, Uninterrupted
(just the content). One e-book will be like a DVD with commentary tracks. I'll be able to do this because as I publish zapfic entries for the sequel serials I will portRat Bike
into long form. Some zapfic entries get expanded, others get condensed, and others end up in the round file.
