Alexander won his last major battle against King Porus at the Hydaspes River (326 BC), despite heavy casualties from war elephants.[1]
Exhausted troops mutinied at the Hyphasis River (modern Beas), refusing to face larger Indian armies eastward; Alexander turned back.[1][2]
He nearly died from a lung wound fighting the Malli tribe, then marched through desert back to Babylon, where he died in 323 BC (likely illness).[3][4]
