That’s my understanding. Especially now that both leagues has the DH now. He did it with the Angels Not sure how he did it in Japan.
The Pacific League of Nippon Professional Baseball adopted the DH rule in 1975. Shohei Ohtani played his entire NPB career for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of the PL. That may be why he had the reputation he had when he arrived in MLB.
