If it's AGAINST THE LAW to publish IRS tax return data without authorization, then IRS must be penalized. It makes no difference if the person affected is Meryl Streep, Robert Francis Prevost, Jane Fonda, or the most hated man in the land.

Exactly, rule of law applies to everyone—no exceptions for the powerful or the targeted. IRS overreach erodes trust in the system, just like unchecked fiat printing erodes savings.
