What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

| Keeping on Interstate 44, we took Old Rte 66 through these towns before we reached Lebanon: Strafford, Holman, Northview, Dermott, Conway, Phillipsburg, and Brush Creek. We checked in at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lebanon. |

| 🏍️ This zapfic entry ofered me the best opportunity to make use of a zapfic entry I composed long ago but wasn't able to include in the zapfic queue until recently. The idea was for Lindsay Etxeberria to gain an appreciation for religious faith from unexpected examples, and David Guardia would be giving her most of these examples. Since leaving New Mexico, however, Lindsay had been learning just as much about anarcho-capitalist libertarianism from the Brothers Marchenko. |

| 🏍️ In the previous zapfic entry, Lindsay Etxeberria had asked a question common enough among Star Wars fans. The answer Frank Marchenko gave is what nearly all fans of Star Wars would give. However, David Guardia was able to tie pop culture to not only faith but also to both politics and technology (via decentralization) with his answer. |

| 🏍️ Lionel Odunsi was able to add to this discussion by offering The Last Jedi as proof of what David Guardia had pointed out in the previous zapfic entry. Although many Star Wars fans panned The Last Jedi for many reasons, it's not as if it could be considered the Rocky V or Iron Man 2 of the Star Wars franchise (movies which fans wish went down the memory hole). It's also a reminder that Lionel is a big fan of the Finn Man. |

| 🏍️ Lindsay Etxeberria was curious about motorcycles in a way which goes beyond her early experiences with them. Perhaps she had seen something during one of Felix Legion's many site-seeing stops along Old Route 66. Maybe she saw something on TV during one of the crew's overnight stays. It could be possible that she had overheard The Twins mention it in an off-handed manner. Whatever the case may be, she's considering life after this ride with David Guardia. This could be a hobby project she can use to gain experience in motorcycle repair and maintenance. It could also be a sort of internship project which will help her in her upcoming work with the Brothers Marchenko. |

| 🏍️ Just as Lindsay Etxeberria is considering life after the ride ends, David Guardia is considering life after the end of his Epic Ride. Eventually he will figure out how he will earn his daily bread, but in the short term he will be an employee of his wife, Rhonda Bella Guardia. Between this job and his income from his investment and decentralized blogging, he will be OK. 🏍️ This is not the first time David says "Where you go, I go" to Rhonda. It's also not the first time the line has been used, since Rhonda said it to him as the current crew set out from California to ride along Old Route 66. |

| 🏍️ During period when I was backtracking to fill in gaps and add a subplot to the Old Route 66 storyline, I was trying to introduce conflict between Lindsay Etxeberria and Sanjay Rampersad. Sanjay is from India, and he is betrothed to Rekha Ramakrishnan. Sanjay is to marry Rekha once he finishes his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. One I had the gaps filled, I realized that what resulted wasn't a conflict between Lindsay and Sanjay so much as a one-way case of unrequited love. This zapfic entry is a reminder of that aspect of the Old Route 66 storyline. Will I return to it before David Guardia's Epid Ride ends in Iowa? After how the gap-filling turned out for me, I'm not expecting that to happen; even so, it's always possible I can return to this. |

Story Arc So Far
Felix Legion continues its ride east along Old Route 66. At this point, Felix Legion is in Missouri and getting closer to the major league city of St. Louis. Across the Mississippi River from St. Louis is the state of Illinois, the 8th state (going east) containing Old Route 66. Most of the zapfic entries for this week feature the characters interacting with each other, allowing us more insight into how they think.
