INTRODUCTION TO HIVE
Hello Hive Community! My name is Joy and I’m new here.
I would like to appreciate @samostically who encouraged, motivated and for introducing me to this great platform. I know this is a great opportunity to grow, meet new people and interact with the Hive Community.
About My Chess Journey
I found about the game of chess in 2008. I went for my first ever national sport festival in 2011 when I was only 7 with the help of my uncle who was also my coach and the state coach, I played on board one and won a bronze medal.
Here is a photo of me with GM Nigel in 2012.
I played my first ever rated game in 2020 at the national chess championship in Iwo, ibandan, where I played a lot of the top players and finished strong.

My chess journey continued in 2021 when Danhypro started hosting junior tournaments and also sponsoring. I was able to train and play without having to think about sponsorship issues, I easily became one of the top ranked females in Nigeria.
Then in 2022 I played my first ever international event, Fide Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India

OTHER ENGAGEMENTS
I recently started learning cyber security about 4 months ago, it has been interesting so far.

It’s amazing how you started chess so young and have already played at international events like the Olympiad. That’s a dream for many! And also I am starting to explore different interests (including chess a little bit hehe so seeing your progress really motivates me to keep going.
